Default Luck of the draw

The post about dealer allocations has all you might need to know. I ordered a TCM xB 5sp '06 on 14 Aug by depositing $500. The dealer let me know that it might take awhile but they would swap inventory if needed. 2 days later the dealership called to let me know I got the last one available of the allocation. The car was still on the boat! They were able to get a VIN beforehand (this lets you know there has been a "real" vehicle selected for you) for the purchase order. It arrived on 23 Aug at port (72 hours allowed to transport to dealer) and was in the dealer's hands on 26 Aug. They offered to get it processed that evening but I went the next morning (27 Aug) instead. Result...after 25 minutes I drove off to work in my new xB. With only 4 miles on the odometer I doubt it was being used as a demo! Total time from ordering to driving off was 11 days. If your dealer supplied a VIN you're golden...if not you might ask for one. My reasoning of needing a VIN for the loan I was processing with my credit union did not disturb them in the least. At least my dealer was open, honest, and accurate. They even opened a half hour early so I could pick up the car and not be late to work on a Saturday. Hope you do as well.

This is 48 hours off the truck as I was out of town on business when she arrived.

I have an odd feeling finding any xA or xB is going to be very tough w/ the rising gas prices.

I signed the paperwork and had the VIN two weeks from today. She was expected the following Thursady but arrived Tuesday.

I've had her exactly a week.

I ordered mine while it was on the ocean. After a 4 week wait, I got mine the day it came off the truck, and with 2 miles on the ODO. July 29, 2004 was a good day.

If I was you, I would request a VIN so that you know the car actually exists. I was actually given the dealer sheet on it before I signed any of the paperwork.

Two or three would of been cool but the nearest gas station is a few miles away and they had to wash/wax her. So 6 miles is cool with me.

I just wish I could break her in faster to take advantage of the fuel economy.

My husband has a 2005 TC. We bought it sight unseen. It was still on the boat when we bought it. We didn't get a VIN (I don't think) but we had a doc. that said what was on it etc. It took us about 3 weeks to get it. It had about 8 miles on it when we finally got it.

As for my XB... We're working with a different dealer. I gave them $200 as a deposit and told them what I want either BC or Blue... either automatic or manuel. However, I don't know whether I'll get what I really want or if I have to take second choice. I know that I'll get the next one that comes in. Hopefully, I'll like it otherwise I'll have to wait for the next one. I've been told that it will probably be about 3 weeks. So it will probably be the middle of Sept.

I got mine as soon as it came off the truck. I ordered when it was at see and my dealer told me it would be next week when i would get it. Then that week came and he told me it would be here next week. Then the next week. So finally I was going down there to complain and as soon as I pulled up they were unloading it off the truck. It had 2 miles on it.

My dealership, Lou Fusz in Kirkwood, Missouri got one being built in Japan, a 2000 xB. It took five weeks from build in Japan to delivery to my dealership. I picked it up and it had 1 [one] mile on it.
