Default Door Lock... Need Help

2005 xB, 25K miles. New Battery installed.

This am, the passengers door on the driver's side is not locking or unlocking via the power door lock button.

All others are.

Any thoughts on what to do?

Thanks as always.

sounds like the lock actuater isnt working...got a volt meter?

check for power at the actuater when you hit the switch..if power is there..the switch is bad...if no power is there..it's possibly the switch

No, I don't have a volt meter.

Is it ridiculously difficult to replace the switch myself?

This is going to sound stupid.

OK, one how do I test these things? Where are they found? I imagine I will have to remove the door panel, but looking at the inside door panel today only see screws behind the handle and inside the door handle. Is that all it takes to remove the door panel on back passenger door?

Thanks.

Yeah, pull those 2 screws (3 for the fronts) and pull, the clips that hold it in pop out pretty easy, just start at one corner and work around.

All that is holding them on is 2 screws? No adhesive?

Anything else holding them on like wires?

I don't want to pull and then create a whole 'nother issue.

Heck, don't even know what I should be looking for...

Just be very careful while working on plastic parts in cold weather. The parts become very brittle. Also, the service manual in my signature may help with the panel removal.

Sounds like a new actuator is needed.

I found this with pretty good prices. I gotta replace mine, too.

I think the cars should be recalled because this is truly a screwed up thing.

Thanks.

It is strange as it works sometimes or you can see it "trying" to close but doesn't.

Where does the actuator go? In the passenger door? Someone mentioned to check the switch, is that also in the passenger door or is that in the drivers door?

Thanks again!

Just sounds like a fluke type of thing. I don't see a major amount of these failing so why a recall? All parts are not 100%. Dodo happens sometimes.

NYCXB-it is probably acting up more because its cold. Last summer my problem pretty much went away. It only stuck a few times. But is has to be replaced.

When you take the inside plastic door piece off you will see it.

Seems to be mentioned more and more as time goes by. Even on other xb sites. They are crappy and defective.

NYC

I am now thinking about a universal acuator. Very nice prices. I am not sure but maybe it will work better than stock. OR BE A COMPLETE DISASTER?

Check these prices out.

Haven't had a chance to address this yet, but what I am noticing is that all the door locks seem sluggish with that back driver's side passenger door not locking when I engage the lock on the fob.

Funny is that it will open on occasion, but not with any ability to predict it will.

What centrally controls this?

Also, when I locked the car in my garage, the back door did not lock, so I opened it to lock it and the alarm didn't go off. Should it have?

Driving me crazy. thoughts?

Funny thing is that that passenger door lock will open when I hit the key fob but not from inside.

Wondering if this is something more central. Really am not interested in bringing this into the dealer and getting ripped off some $500.

Ahhh check the button to see if it moved easily WITH YOUR FINGERS like try unlocking and locking it by hand. If the button is trying to move then it is probably ok and just a little sticky from cold or some frozen moisture in the lock.
