Featured Scion: eight08customs Black xB
eight08customs Black xB
Marshall Lum, of Honolulu, Hawaii, didn't expect to own an xB. After a trip to Cali and seeing one of those boxes he kind of caught the bug once again. Marshall wasn't new to world of customizing cars,
he has owned a few rides like his 1985 VW Jetta "Critical Condition" that was one of Hawaii's hottest cars when the lowrider movement in Hawaii was in full swing.
His rides were featured in various magazines such as Low Rider, Japan Low Rider and local publications in Hawaii.
After selling his last customized car his 1996 Impala SS he told himself that was the last car he ever customize. Well, that lasted until now - enter his latest project dubbed "Black Widow". After the first Scion Dealership opened in Hawaii,
he was curious and paid a visit to Servco Scion one night. It was supposed to be just a visit but turned out different. After coming home from the dealer, Marshall was hooked on the Scion xB's price and looks.
The day after his visit he had to place the order on the 2004 Scion xB in Black Sand Pearl.
He decided to go with just the factory spoiler as an option and passed up the rest of the accessories after much thinking. After all, the fun part was fixing up the box! Not long since he ordered his Scion xB, he called Wheel Warehouse in Southern CA.
and placed an order for his wheels and Eibach lowering springs. He figured by might as well order the parts now while the box was in transit.
Once the xB arrived it was immediately dropped and the wheels mounted. The next step was to add some performance bolt on parts such as the Injen intake.
Not satisfied with the looks of his project and seeing all these crazy looking boxes on Scion Life, he updated his wheels and is now running Axis Se7en Mods in 19x8 with the rear wheels running the Maxxis lip.
The Eibachs were replaced for Goldline springs to drop his box even closer to the ground.
A customized Full Bloom front grille was added along with some Nish Designs color-matched eyelids. Wanting to set himself apart from all the sweet island ride's, Marshall decided to go with a TRF full lip kit.
This was the second one ever produced by TRF and the very first one in the Hawaiian islands. To finish off the exterior, he added a bBist carbon fiber Fab-style rear spoiler. Then for the finishing touches, he added JDM badges to his box.
Future plans are to finish his audio/video system and some interior work.
Besides from having one of the hottest looking rides in the islands, Marshall has been involved with the Scion scene big time. He runs his local Scion club in the area and is also involved with
www.eight08customs.com - linking Hawaii's Scions to the world.
He has participated in a lot of local car shows, parades and charity events. He has spear headed toy drives and can food drives for local charities in behalf of his Scion club and local Scion Owners.
I am certain that if you are Honolulu on vacation, you'll be seeing Marshall's "Black Widow" driving around. Make sure you give him a warm Scion hello and he'll give you the hang loose sign.
