Default Got T-boned, xB Totaled (pics)

This sucks. I was on my way home from my girlfriends house, at about 12:15 am. if anyone is familiar with Exchange street in Pawtucket, i was heading down it. I had the green light at the intersection of High St. and Exchange. went through the intersection, caught something out of the corner of my eye. that something was a Mitsubishi Galant. Next thing I know I'm getting bounced around inside the car, my chest hit the steering wheel and I was thrown towards the roof, hit my head real good. I took the brunt of the impact right in my hip, which is screwed up royally now. other than that I have a bump on my head and my left side is killing me. I'm lucky it wasn't a lot worse but my xB kept me relatively safe.

Wow, how fast was the galant going?

I'm glad to see the box came through and you are still alive.

I know accidents suck (I've been in a few, noe of which were my fault).

Hope you heal up correctly and get a GOOD lawyer.

And not trying to take advantage of the situation, but if you had the xB foglights, armrest, or floormats...could you steal them off your wrecked box and sell them to be me for cheap?

That would not be "stealing". The insurance company will not pay for add-ons lost in a collision. Not -his- insurance, for sure. And nearly as surely, the other person (at fault), their carrier will weasel out of paying for the add ons. Been there.

Advise like others: be very agressive and have an sharp attorney looking out for your interests.

Insurance companies never pay properly any more in accident injury cases. They are leery because the fraud rate is so high. So, it's too bad that you must reallly be stern and fight for a proper settlement. You'll need an attorney for sure.

Your choice of attorney is critical. I can't tell you how to find the right guy. But you must be careful to get one really motivated to aid your cause (which of course lines his pocket too)

Attorneys are not much interested in pursuing nickel-dime settlements. Fifty K is nothing anymore, really. So if you have permanent injurty (chronic bone or joint pain), your claim will be centered about permanent, diminished capacity for earning a living. Pain and suffering don't much come into the equation.

It's hard to suck an honest buck out of these companies any more. Don't do fraud but don't play "it's OK I think.." either.

Now that the pictures are loaded for me to see I can say more!

-Whether you had your belt on or not is really immaterial here.
-A belt does not do much for your hip displacement.
-The drivers door is stoved in dramatially. You took a mult-ton punch to your pelvis.

-This sort of injury may heal or it may cause future problems in your walking when you get old. I presume you are a youth.

-Injuries to joints (hip socket) take a long time to heal and may not be the same even after recovery time. You may have a permanently "depreciated" hip... that'll cause you agony years from now, even if in two months it feels just fine.

true enough.

To give you an idea on cost, my wreck cost right at $5,000, but I did not have any drivetrain damage like you obviously have. Wear your seatbelt.

Here's a link.

O GOOD LORD! That SUCKS sooo much. Get a doctors appointment as soon as possible!

Make them do all the good tests MRI and CAT. Find out as soon as you can if the other driver has PIP. Im sure you do with yours.

It is REALLY REALLY easy to run through a 10K PIP. My husband ran through TWO PIPs 10K each quick. We were only going about 5mph in a big truck when a camaro hit his side of the truck at about 10mph.
He hit is knee on the dash and it broke a small piece of bone off. Knee surgery.

I hope you come out OK

thanks for the support guys. the other kid doesnt have insurance (i have uninsured motorist thank god) and had 5 accidents on his record in the past year! He was arrested at the scene for dirving without a license, but later released because his mommy furnished records it was reinstated THAT DAY. My hip is royally screwed up and some of my toes are numb, along with my left "cheek" Ill find out tommorow if its totalled or not, which i hope it is because I dont wanna pay for a new car fr another 5 years with 9k in damage. I have a couple of appointments with lawyers, and my chiropracter released me from work for a while. gonna go see neurologist next week. I appologize for the grammer but I am on lots of pain killers and muscle relaxers. I appreciate you guys being so concerned and I will update you on the situation!!! but now the question, which color should I buy my 06 xB in! I want a moonroof lol

edit: Im confident that if i was wearing my seatbelt, I would have been hurt alot more because I would have stayed in that one spot I got hit instead of getting hit and bouncing the other way

Sorry to hear about your injuries, but I doubt a seatbelt would have saved you any injuries. The damage to the drivers door intruded just a few inches, versus getting thrown around.

Sad to hear that you didn't wear a seatbelt, that's just not safe or smart.

I am glad to hear though that you are okay. If I were you, I would consider opening a law suit against the driver. Especially since he's had 5 prior accidents, and had no licence.
