Default having trouble with my ac for an 06 xb

my 2006 scion xb ac is not accepting freon anymore...
when we first tried to recharge it the system took the freon but the condenser had a major leak in it so we replaced it and vacummed the system out then we tried to put freon back in it and it would not accept it... the compressor would not kick on so i took it to somebody else and the said the cycle switch wasnt getting power to it and we checked all the fuses and relays and they were all good so now im not too sure on what it could be.. If anyone could give me some advice on this i would be very grateful i live in the south and its already starting to get in the 90s and i have 2 small children it is entirely too hot with out ac...please help

I am having the beginning of a non-working A/C, and, although I live in the Northeast, it is in the 90's today, and I am wondering if I must bring it to my dealer, or can I recharge it myself?

you should actually be able to recharge it yourself if you know how to read gauges. just go to your nearest auto parts store and get a can a freon with hose
