Default How Does the hatch open

Hi all,
I just found this board and it looks great!

Now for the questions:

How does hatchback opens on xB and xA?
What I meen is is there a button on the in side the car?
Can I open it with a key?
If I get keyless entry option will I be able to open hatch with a remote?

Keep on boxin'

The hatch on the xB unlocks when the door unlocks with the keyless remote, and does not have a key hole...

Not sure bout the xA though, being that I don't drive one...

It has a handle that you use to open it, but seriously No keys and you could use a trunk pop setup to open it.

ummm....

on the xB you open the hatch by pulling the lever on the hatch, and then like magic...

**it opens!**

pretty much like every other car with a hatchback

you can get an aftermarket remote open deal installed later, there is no factory option for that.

First Question:

How does hatchback opens on xB and xA?
I have an XB so I dont know about the xa But I think is the same. There is a lip on the back of the hatch...right above the plate (Where you could think there is a handle) It has a pressing mechanism in which you have to press on the handle....I hope you understand...I believe its the same mechanism that the BWM 3 series has....I hope that helps.

What I meen is is there a button in the in side the car?
No, there is no button that opens the hatch from the inside

Can I open it with a key?
No you can't...there is no KeyHole in the back

If I get keyless entry option will I be able to open hatch with a remote?
No you will not. The keyless entry will only Unlock the doors. One click the drivers side opens....two clicks all the remaing doors unlock including the hatch.

On most hatchbacks you "pop" the hatch with a lever, key or solinod. When this happens the pressure of the latching system "pops" it up about an inch so you can reach under the lip and raise it.

On the xB this doesn't happen. The hatch doesn't "pop". There is a button on the door itself (lift the door 1/2 way open and look up where the plate light is, you will see a black rubber bad, the button is under the center of this pad).

Remote trunk pop would be almost useless on this vehicle as the actual act of lifting the door open is what unlocks the door (the area with the button is the only area to really lift from). Also, the remote would only be able to activate the button in the door (where your hand would be anyway), and not move the door.

It could be made to open with a remote, but it would be a lot more involved then just a remote pop system. You'd need new gas struts (or actuators) and some trial and error work.

All in all, not really worth it.

...but what about a shaved hatch?? then you'd need something to open it, that's what I was talking about, not just to lift it, but to open it. K?

You'd need a remote activated solenoid. Something to release the latch and push it open a few inches so you could grab it.

Or so a motor could start moving it, but wait I've said too much.

No Pop, but you can always press on the unlock button on the driver's side that unlocks all doors. Yeah, like what others have said, using a traditionally unlock lever or remote is a safety hazard. That door will just pop straight out out and WHAM!!
