Default my scion makes a weird noise at high speeds

it sounds kind of like "womph womph womph"
is this normal? or could it be the rotors (the sound seems to be coming from the rear)

High speed...how fast? Wind noise? Check your tires. Pressure, nails, cuts.

Not the rotors if it sounds like coming from the rear! Drum brakes back there!

G/L!

This may be a "dumb" question but... are your back windows down while driving high speeds? I know some people don't like the wind in their face so they let their back windows down. Being in a box (and most other cars), there will be a "helicopter" sound coming from the rear if your rear windows are down and your front windows are not.

54K?
I suppose it's possible it could be a wheel bearing...
no bent rims or unusual tire wear is there?

If it were a tire failure he would feel it as well as hear it. Esp. at 60MPH.

I too would first suggest that your windows were down and you were getting reverb from the wind rushing in.

If not, then raise the rear of your box and take a look underneath. Everything down there should look in its place. There really isnt a lot udner there to begin with.

You may want to take a look at your tail if you have one.

take a look at your rear window wiper as well. It should be snug against the back glass.

Also, now that i think about it .. make sure your rear lip is bolted together in the center and all along the upper edge.

40 MPH ... even a tire that had a belt shift would make noise at that speed. But im sure if a bearing was bad that it could. Me personally, i havent had any expierence with a bad bearing so i wouldnt know. At 40 MPH i dont think that a loose rear lip would move enough to make any noise.
