My wife and I both took the day off yesterday because we were getting a new furnace installed at our house, plus we wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and plant some trees and bushes. Anyhow, here's what happened: My wife was out grocery shopping with the xB. The furnace people had one of their vans parked in my driveway. They were working on sections of sheetmetal ducting and stuff which they had standing up behind their van. My wife comes home and backs up into the driveway next to the van to unload groceries. As we are unloading, a gust of wind blows a setion of sheet metal over and the sharp corner of it falls right into the driver's door! It put about a 1 1/2" scratch down to the bare metal right in the middle of the door! I was not happy. The poor solar yellow box has been hurt. The good part is, we called our insurance company and it's 100% covered with zero deductable. I just hope whoever we have fix it does a perfect job. The car is only 5 months old.

 

what a sad story. i got a little nic in mine after some dumb *person* (major edit) threw a hardcandy out their window dinging and nicked my hood! WTF!!! i pulled up next to him ranting about how his dumb *butt* (also major edit) Just ruined my brand new hood. He gave that oh sorry shrug handed me a hundred bux and said i didn't think anyone was behind me... ____ed me off! oh so a hundred bux is just gonna solve the entire problem ( it did btw) i had some touch up paint in the glove compartment, and after washing and waxing the hood with the blue turtle wax, i can't even tell where it was. plus i am 100 bux closer to my Seibon Hood. but still it is the principles that count. he threw a hardcandy at me!

 

That's pretty cool that the guy gave you $100 on the spot like that.
I just hope for this door, it will look perfect. I don't want to be able to tell that it ever happened. Since it took it down to bare metal, I'm thinking they may have to repaint the whole door. I really don't know much about this kind of stuff, but I know you ain't buffing this one out.

 

scion just sent me a can of touch up paint.... and i have had my car for 5 months as well so u should be getting it here soon

 

Hmmm...nope, haven't gotten any paint yet. I doubt I would try to fix this myself anyways. If I did it, it would look like I did it. And nobody wants that.

 

Thats sad, hey at leads you can get it coverd by your insurance with out having your deduction. BTW you guys had touch up for your xb. My dealer did not supply me with one (Thunder cloud) I've got a scratch on my rear bumper. Whish I had one of those in my glove box.

 

RS owners get some from Scion in the mail. i just got some from the dealer for ~$8..
