Default Noise at 35MPH+

My wife's 05 xB is making a weird noise at 35MPH and above.

It's an automatic & 73k miles

She noticed the noise and described it to me as "sounds like a moped is riding my ___"

I drove it around and heard it also, it's not real loud, but kind of sounds like we are driving with mud tires installed.

I put it in neutral and coasted down the hill and the noise was still present, even while coasting with the engine off.

Sounds like it is coming from one of the front tires, but I checked them and they look fine.

It's weird because a couple of days before this issue started my father in law took it to his mechanic to check our A/C. Any ideas of what it could be?

Put it up on the jack today and the wheel bearings seem to be ok, I couldn't rock the wheel on it. Turning the wheel slowly made no noise other than the normal rotor noise. CV axels seemed to be tight. I took the tires off and rotated them, they seemed to be ok, only one little gash in one of the tires but that has been there for over a year with no problems.

So are the tires actually round when you turn them on the axle? Any lumps in the surface that could be a tire starting to delaminate?

Tires look fine to me, no bumps. The only have maybe 8-10k miles on them, and still have great tread depth. No uneven tread wear either.

The only thing wrong with one of them is the gash where my wife rubbed a curb, but that has been on there since the first 100 miles.
