Engine won't start- no crank or noise
Recently my 2005 (117k miles) XB was acting like the battery was going dead. When I try and start it, it gives me the sluggish start, but does crank over. So today I cleaned off the posts really good. Went to start the car and nothing. Took the cables back off, re-tightened them just to make sure and nothing again. Mind you it was running till i removed the cables and cleaned them.
Horn, lights, fan, everything is fine. Tried jumping it with wife's car, nothing. When I turn the key again, NOTHING. No crank over and no clicking noise. Nothing at all. What are the chances that it's the starter relay switch? And what's a quick way of find out if it's that before I start buying stuff I may not need. Thank you

Thank goodness for son-in-law mechanics. LOL double checked my engine and after all was said and done says it's the starter. Gonna get a rebuilt one in the morning. Will follow up and let those who have the same problem know how it went.

Yes sir, like a charm. Had to have the starter rebuilt. $80.00 wich is way better than 200.00. The only pain in ___ was removing some of the cowling(?) to get to starter, and the top bolt. The top bolt is a pain. But i finally got both bolts off and on. Fired it up and it runs like a champ again.
