question about cold engine light
are you supposed to wait til the blue light turns off before driving it? Or can you just take it easy for the first mile or two until the light turns off?
You should drive as soon as it's running.
The quicker the engine warms up the longer it will last in service
The blue light tells "cold". The engine managament computer locks the automatic
OUT of fourth gear, to speed the warm-up process by forcing revs.
When an engine is cold it's working clearances are large and ample and there is no risk of oil starvation with modern multi-vis oils. Therefore, there's no reason to baby the engine just to warm it up.
The major cause of cylinder bore wear is corrosion caused by the condensation of moisture on cold cylinder walls. This water comes from the combustion process.
It is nothing more than -rust- in micro thin form. By running the engine under load ASAP after starting this period of engine wear is shortened to a minimum.
Modern oils are really good at minimizing corrosion wear, but still, it's best that we not coddle a cold engine. Run it up to temp by driving it as if it were warm.

cool, great advise and it makes sense. I definitely havent been waiting for the light to go off everytime but I have noticed that the light goes off faster when I just drive it before the light goes off. What I dont understand now is what is that light displayed for if it doesnt have any effect on how you should drive it? shouldnt we only be worried about it overheating (red light)?
Sorry for all the stupid questions

My red temp light has never come on (except for startup) and I am not worried about it doing so.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned, is that third gear is locked out until a certain temp is reached just like fourth. You'll notice this when it gets colder, and yes, it's annoying.
