Default rear bumper issue

has anybody had problems with the rear bumper "falling off?" it looks like someone yanked on the right section of my rear bumper extension and now its falling off! it doesnt look like anyone hit me, and it just happened tonight. a buddy of mine with an audi just noticed his started to do this right where his mudflat is. (i just mention this to note that its a german car or higher quality) so, has the heavy rain affected anyone else like this? if so, can i take it to my dealership to get it fixed? i plan on doing so in the morning, but i wanted to see if anyone will reply by the time i wake up.

there is no way that your bumper would fall off
theres sooo many bolts and screws that holds the bumper cover on... :?:

if you look at it, its sectioned... its not the entire bumper, its like one piece of it. just the loewr extension. think side skirts, but for the bumper. i was trippin' out, cuz i thought someone either messed with my car or hit me, but i dont think that happened. im gonna take a look at it now that its daylight.

i remember some people talking about this a while back... tried running a search to find the old thread, but had no luck... however, from what i recall, the bumper is kept in place with some type of a clip (or something of that sort) and fixing it wasn't that big of a deal... sorry i can't be more specific, hopefully this will help get you in the right direction... anyone else remember?...

good luck...

please make the difference between the rear valance that hangs from the bumper, or the bumper itself.

if its the valance, it is indeed held together with clips and snaps. easy to put back together...but you have to line the two sides together and make sure there flush with one another...

a car in front of me had just lost portion of his tire and i just so happen to run over it. it pulled that rear valance apart (cause i'm lowered). just snap it back together and make sure your clips are in too. couple weeks later, i got rear ended and replaced the bumper and both valances...good as new!!!!

hope that helps.

the right side of my rear bumper doesn't look as flush as the left does. I thought that it was iight, but i went to a scion meet in cerritos and saw everyone else's bumper perfectly aligned. I'll check for a clip or something to fix it. it doesn't really bug me or anything. but ill post my results later.

Default Rear bumper valance

Mine lost a clip or something in the center at the rear. The valance would push out about a half inch or so after driving, although it was still connected at the sides. i put a ziptie thru the hole til I get to the dealership for my first service

well, i just got back from claremont scion/toyota..... they told me its not under warranty, since the car itself did not break, but the rain made it happen. can anyone that works at another dealership help me out? it looks like the inner part is a little damaged, and i couldn't get it to set how it is supposed to. the guy at the dealership said something about $300 and i told him no thanks. if i can't get it replaced under warranty, i may just have to try to fix it myself.... but that sucks, because it's only a month old, dammit.

The rain made it happen? What kind of bs is that. So you have to worry if your car gets wet? Sounds fishy to me.

The xBs are shipped without those skirts in place. They are installed at the dealership as part of the PDI (pre-delivery inspection). There would be no way to get the xBs on and off the car carrier with those skirts in place.

Do you have the original PDI worksheet? Our dealership gives those to the customer to show the quality of the vehicle. I wonder if you made a real fuss in the service department if they wouldn't help you out just to keep up appearances.

If I were you I would stomp my feet and make a little bit of a fuss. It doesn't take too long to install, and it wouldn't take to long to fix. I can't imagine that this dealership would want to ____ off a new customer on a new vehicle that is being launched.

Let us know how it turns out for you!

Doesn't the xB come with rear bumper off when it's delivered? How do they know if they didn't mess up the install initially? Maybe you didn't notice it at first or something that happened after you hit a couple of bumps. Sounds like BS to me. I can't see how it would not be covered especially if it wasn't hit or that you did some type of modification to the bumper. Rain! Can't believe they said the rain did it.
