Default redline...

hey everyone, is it bad to redline the xB? or is it okay once in awhile? i like to baby my ride. but just yesterday i redlined it and didn't really think i should have. i know that this car is not made to do so either so i was just curious if maybe it did any damage? thanks in advance..

you can hit the redline and shift, thats ok.
if you run for miles with the motor bouncing off the limiter, thats a big no no.

I love to baby my cars too... But every now and then you gotta feed some speed to your ride... I think it might actually be good. If your car never sees high rpms it'll get soft. You gotta floor that b*tch once and a while and clear the pipes.

Isn't that what they call an "Italian Tune-Up" ... running through all your grears as you start from a stand still and get on the freeway while hitting redline before each shift?!

You can do it all you want but keep in mind that the stress from the higher rpms does incur more wear on the engine and related parts.
