sailboats?
They do make trailer hitches for the xB. For a boat so light that you would consider cartopping it I am sure you could tow it as long as the trailer is not made of lead. Yakima sells roof racks for the xB check their weight limit and see how the boat compares, if within spec that would work also I bet.
Wel a laser hull is about 125 lbs and adding a road trailer has got to push the weight up there... I was just wondering if anyone put a boat on their box (I'll investigate the 2nd gen, but I prefer the 1st gen...)
I own a tC so sorry for hijacking this thread, but I have a similar problem.
My wife owns an xA and I own a tC, I have a laser sailboat with an aluminum trailer down at my parent's place in Atlanta. I would love to bring it up here (I am in MA), but don't know if I would be able to transport it at all with the tC or the xA. I was looking at the roof rack and hitch solutions, but don't want to ruin my tC by towing as Toyota does not recommend it.
Looks like the roof rack is the best bet. Would a laser be ok on top of the roof rack?
If anybody does this already today, I would love to see pictures of how you load everything up on a tC or xA! =)

Towing is fine in a Scion as long as you also add a trans cooler. I would guess under 1K total trailer weight would be it tho like other sub compact cars.
