The basic idiots guide to the second gen..
personally, there were little things here and there that I did like about the car, and they burn my fingers just thinking about typing...
the door were very heavy, unlike the 1st gens... hell, I have multiple layers of sound deadening in mine and Im still not happy with em... I did like the way that I sat in the car, it was a bit odd having the shifter on the dash not on the floor, but after a while I got used to it. the throw is fine but could be shortened... the clutch throw was ridiculous, it was a work out just about... not that it was tough, but def a long assssssssss thhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrroooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!! and there is absolutely no rythm to its action. all in all the ride (for a stock car) very smooth, it could use a lot less body roll, but def good for what you get from the factory. the engine noise into the cabin was virtually non-noticeable... which I guess for the average consumer is not a bad thing... with the way that the second gens dash is set up, it really feels like you are sitting above everything and that is what makes the shift throw very long... the hood feels weird and I could not properly judge the legnth of the car... I dont like the dash, although the digital speedo is nifty. the main deterrant from me parking one next to my first gen is the grille, with it being set below the headlights it just doesnt feel like an appropriate replacement to my daily (the 1997 Satan Wagon) Honestly, I still dont think that the second gen was the right replacement for the xB, if the styling were a bit more redefined and a little more squaredness incorporated, I would rate it better... but the solidness of the car def makes up for that though... but again, the worst part of the car, is the clutch...
4/5 stars... couple tweeks and I could own one in a heartbeat, but untill then, Scion is SOL for getting more money from me anytime soon...

It isn't the throw of the clutch that gets me as you tend not to even notice it(tC owners have the same gripe though) but the fact that you CAN NOT feel the eguagment point for it. I've never stalled my 2G but I've sure as hell burnt the clutch. An aftermarket exhaust helps with the engine sound since you can't hear the engine at low rpm stock.
P.S. That was quite an honest review..not something I expected from a 1G guy....cool
Ohh yeah....you could raise or lower the seat but I didn't tell you that.
The rumion has a better grille placement then the xB but I just don't like the overall appearance of the front end. the headlights seem bulky and awkward and it just doesn't seem to flow together like the xB.

i never noticed that until now. what would have helped the XBfail ALOT would have just been simply ending the hood at the top of the headlights, moving the grill up to fit in the slot (making it the right contour to fit of course) and then the whole front bumper would have straight across lines like the XB. that would have helped immensely.
meh im not good at photoshop but you get the idea...
from this...

to this...

this at least makes the front end appear somewhat normal. still need to bring the headlights and grill down a few inches into the bumper all together but you get the idea.
how did the design team ever even come up with that front end to begin with? thats what ill never understand. the lines are atrocious as they are. i can't stand how they look in the front. the parts are all good, it's the placement that is just all wrong.

Don is secretly in love with my 2G but doesn't want to admit it.
it's like riding a moped... all fun and smiles... untill your friends see you putting down the street....
then they point and laugh...
then they point and laugh...
