Default Trouble starting car with my Viper remote start

I can start my xB just fine by using my key but when I use my aftermarket remote start it only works about half the time. I don't think it's the remote. My first attempt to fix this problem was to change the plugs but the problem is still there. I also put heet in the gas to no avail as well.

This is not a huge problem YET but to me it's an indicator of something wrong with the engine. Any ideas of what I should troubleshoot next?

Thanks for your reply Big Jim.

When I use the remote start the engine starts for about 5 seconds, kind of flutters, then stalls. The remote start is programmed to try 3x and this happens all 3x. It sounds like the engine just needs a little touch on the gas pedal to keep from stalling.

Right now I'm thinking about changing the fuel filter and see what happens.

No, when I start my car with my key it starts right up. Of course I'm stepping on the gas pedal which is probably the difference over the remote start.

What happens if you turn the key without stepping on the throttle while in the car? Does it not start.. You shouldn't have to step on the gas at all, it's a pressurized fuel system, and you have fuel injection in the XB.

If you have to step on the gas,
You are likely right to start with the fuel filter..
As that's your cheapest starting point..

I just checked and I don't have to step on the gas at all to start the car.

My remote start doesn't start my xB if it has been sitting all night. However, if I drive the car in the morning my remote start will work for the rest of that day.

The big question would be who installed the unit? Was it a pal,a side job or a dealer?
That would depend on how the connections were made. On that platform the tach connection is very accessible ( this tells the remote start that the car is running) and is the most accurate gauge of engine programming. Sounds like that is your main issue.
