Would you use 3M tape to hold down a roof rack?
Hey everyone,
I'm planning on ordering these maggie chrome roof rails for my box.

I was wondering if anyone around here would use 3M tape to hold them down?
I don't really like the idea of drilling screws in my roof to hold them down, but if it's the only way so be it.
Let me know what you all think

the strongest 3M double-sided tape holds 5 lbs/sq. in or so....
i don't think you'll be doing anything less than that.. and with the amount of surface area those will be held in..
yeah..
mount them properly.
Won't putting a couple of handles on the top make it look too much like a large piece of roll-around luggage?

I'm another one to say bolt 'em down. I've seen too many random bits fly off cars and endanger others...

id go with bolt.....last thing you want is it coming off your car bouncing off the road and logding itself in the window of a car behind you......my tail light guard i had on my car were heavy, i 3M taped them on, and saftey wired them as a backup incase they were to fall...saftey is the #1 rule

Has there been anyone recommending using the tape yet? Didn't think so.
Use bolts.
If you install it yourself, make sure to seal up (paint) those unfinished edges you create when you drill those holes, otherwise, you might as well have used tape once the rust gets to that bare metal.

Dude unless you want everyone to see your dirty(or clean) laundry, bolt it in
