To xB or not to xB?
I currently own an Infiniti QX4 and I need some help deciding whether or not to buy an xB. I love it but the wife doesn't like it and wants to keep the QX4. Initially, I thought only teens drove it, but most of the people I see driving it are 30-40's at least and are passing me on the expressway going to work.
I'm also afraid that the second I buy one, 4.0 will drop and solve the harsh ride and hp issues I have with it. I just need some opinions. Cuz you know what they say about opinions. Has anyone gone from big SUV or car horsepower to the xB?

I have the AEM Cold Air Intake--It provides little more than a little noise. The car is loads of fun, but it has ABSOLUTELY no power. I get in the middle lane and go 70 or so with not problems. It has tons of room and good visability. I love the car-but it is no racer.........
went from a 02' jetta 1.8T to the xB... big change... but still fun.... and i'm more show then go interms of car choices... it has enough get up and go for the most part... more than enough room and fun as heck...
as for changes with the 4.0.... RS series are all cosmetic changes... only thing i can think of that would be different power wise(outside of intake/exhaust options)...is that the ECU programing may be a bit more up to date than say a '04 or '05... maybe set better for different fuel blends etc...
but yeah.. RS series are 99.999% costmetic options

The xB was never meant to have power, it was meant as a fun car with tons of space. It does both of those really well! The wife didn't like it at first, then she took a test drive and fell in love. Whenever we go out all of our friends want us to drive due to the massive back seat space. Awsome car and easy to modify, what is that down side? It isn't a race car? If I was in the market for that I wouldn't have been looking at scions in the first place.

depends on what breaks in relationship to the turbo/sc.... dealer has to prove that whatever mod you do voids warranty.... they'll try and throw a blanket statement "oh well you added turbo/SC to the engine bay... so thats why your wiper motors are dead and are not covered by warranty"....
ok.. maybe not that extreme but you get the idea... ... tho somthing like breaking a belt or ruining a pully would be easier to blame on the turbo/sc and possibly not be covered under warranty

My wife thought I was out of my mind until she got in my xB. I bought mine on April 1, and it's been great. I'm getting 35 MPG! It ain't no Ferrari speed wise but it still gets up and goes. It has tons of torque in the lower gears. I've also driven an automatic and found it to be really impressive for an automatic. The space is great for a family guy or a musician who has to carry a lot of gear. It's a lot of vehicle for the money.

There is no horsepower problem. The only reason you would need more power in an xB is to lay down rubber. If you want to do that, get something else. I'm not in anyone's way in town or on the highway. Next week my wife are going on a five day, 1,200 mile trip. We will leave the S Type Jag in the garage and take the Box. I will try to keep it down to 65 MPH to save gas, but will more likely to be nudging 75 to 80. The only important things for a trip like this is cruise control and an armrest and a radar detector.

Yeah, Johnnylovely, it does rev high on the highway. That's the price you pay for a 1500cc engine. I have a manual and I love the ratios the way they are, but I would dearly love to have a sixth speed with the lower five the way they are and the sixth for overdrive for cruising on the highway. Space limitations may make a sixth impossible, and I have no idea what it would cost. Some of the English cars from the fifties and sixties had four speeds with electric overdrive on the top three speeds, so, in effect, you had seven speeds. I have never owned one of these with the overdrive so I don't know how they worked out. Every car is a compromise, so you make your choice and pay the money. Then, we start with the mods.
I can't wait to start modding it. I had a 94 Probe that had just about every mod I could fit on it and it really was fun to drive after I was done. I already have my eye on the HID headlights
