Default 2012 xB Rear Bumper scratched - applique offer protectioN?

Hey guys, so I have a brand new 2012 Scion xB. I was taking a cooler out of it tonight and scratched the rear bumper pretty bad on accident

So I was wondering two things:

1. I think the pictures I've seen of the purchasable rear bumper protective applique would completely cover these scratches - is this a pretty durable product?

2. If I wanted to get the scratches out, what do you think the dealership would charge?

Thanks!

How bad are the scratches? If u run ur nail across it can u feel it?

If its a deep enough scratch, the factory bumper applique might still show the imperfection underneath.

Yeah I can feel it, it's a bad scrape. I am going to see about having the dealership fix it and then apply an applique.

From what I can see on their site, they don't sell one for the 2012 xB

post up a picture. but most of the time if you can feel it with your fingernail its not something that can buff out. its pretty deep. as for having the dealership i wouldnt do that. they would charge to much and most of the time just sublet it out to a local body shop... i would just take it to a local high end body shop near you. i would suggest a Leifs or a Kadels if you have them. they have the best quality in my opinion. J & M... eh. and maaco.... NOOOO!

but thats if you want it fixed. as for the protector. i dont think theres a difference between 2008 and 2012 bumper applique even the weather tech one. theres no difference in the bumper in that area. the only thing different is the lower body lines and the rear reflectors they stupidly added. so you should be fine with any of the appliques from 2008 on up.

The dealership had this one for 55 bucks, NOT the sticker one, so I bought it and covered the scratch for now rather than fixing it LOL

The bumper cover was a BIT harder to install than I thought, and somehow we didn't line it perfect so it's a tiny bit off, but WOW it's nice and protective!

I have been meaning to get one of these (not the appliqué, the real protector, P/N 00016-79008 ).
Maybe next paycheck...

I had one very siliar to this for my mazda 6 wagon and it was the best 50 bucks I spent on that car. I'm so glad I found this I cant believe in my 4.5 years of owning the car and being on here I never saw this. Just ordered it up.. just one less part I have to detail next week!!!
