Default Foglight suggestions wanted

I almost ordered a pair of those ebay scion knock-off fog lites until I found some bad reviews (cracked lenses, metal clips falling off). I like the plug-n-play aspect of the scion factory fogs but don't think they're worth $200. I have a Fig grill coming and want to install some 55w fogs behind the grill.

Any suggestions for some good quality, reasonably priced clear fog lites? Does anyone make wiring harnesses that plug into our existing wiring? I don't mind splicing and soldering if I have to but I'd much prefer to use a proper harness. TIA.

i purchased the aftermarket ebay kit, installed it, and have had no problems. the switch is a real piece of crap as are the instructions, but for the price i can learn to live with it. the only issue i have is when i turn on my high beams, the fogs turn off. been meaning to find a way fix that. besides that, they look and function like a factory piece. the switch does tend to stick but i never turn them off anyways so it doesn't bother me at all. if my headlights are on, so are the fogs. i'd totally recommend them to anyone over the oem fog lights. i worked at a dealership and went aftermarket because the quality was comparable.

Thanks for the feedback. I might try those ebay fogs after all. OTOH, since I'll be installing them behind the grill, any fogs will do.

Perhaps you work at a dealership, but it just so happens, that normal behavior for fog lights is to only illuminate when the standard beams are on. It just so happens that high beams simply don't work in fog! That's exactly the way the factory fogs work and exactly the way they should work! Where the hell do you people come from? (Obviously not any area that actually has fog!)

i know that genius. i just don't like that it does that. he wanted an opinion, so i gave it to him, with things that i liked and didn't like about the kit. so maybe you should take back your retarded comments before you come off like an even bigger douche.

Retarded? You're the dubious individual that specifically said the factory fogs are different! Retarded? -- take a look at yourself in the mirror "douche!" If you can't stand by what you say, then keep your mouth shut!

considering he wanted suggestions on fog lights and not retarded comments from poster trolls who have absolutely nothing to contribute, maybe you should be the one who keeps his mouth shut. unless the new title of the thread is watch trevors rant like a douche, you should stop posting and using exclamation points to try and make a point. get the sand out of your vagina, find a nice fluffy pillow to cry into, and go away. or contribute. whichever you prefer.

Can the switch be replaced by and OEM? Way back when I had a camry the switches were going for like 30 bucks? I might consider buying the lights off of ebay I saw some for 104 bucks which way better than 200. ScionFred let me how the install goes.

If that means you're going to start providing accurate information to the OP, then I'm impressed! Yes?

Sorry, I don't get it! The only reason this thread exists is because the OP was trying to ellicit informtion. It has absolutely nothing to do with you outside of whatever accurate information you deliver. Inaccurate information is a complete and utter disservice, get it? So tell the guy what he needs to know without making stuff up and you are furthering the purpose of the thread! The concept is pretty straight foward, but the trick is to reign oneself in from making stuff up. By the way -- name calling does not further your cause .

i gave him all the information i had, you took it upon yourself to respond like a smart ___, so i returned the favor. i actually purchased them, and gave him exactly what he was looking for, even pointing out that my experience with them was just that, and he could take it with a grain of salt. and what have you provided so far besides a few sarcastic comments and a smiley? absolutely nothing.

oh yes. i forgot. you stated the obvious. fog lights shut off when you turn on your highs. i would have never noticed if you didn't tell me even though i mentioned it before you got in this thread. now if i, as someone who likes to modify my scion, doesn't like this particular feature and has taken it upon myself to state that fact and say that i want to fix it, then i will. and i will also let the op know this just in case. you know, to actually GIVE HIM USEFUL INFORMATION. not sit around and type garbage and pretend to have any clue about anything other than what i think someone else is trying to say, explain, whatever.

anything else trevors? because unless you come up with some mind blowing fog light info, i think you should just drop it.

Thanks. I may end up getting the oems but it really pains me to pay even $169 for lites that work no better than a $50 set of universal lites. Of course, it may be worth $120 to avoid making custom mounting brackets and splicing wires. I haven't decided yet.

I took a look tonite and the only good place to mount universal lites is the bumper but none of the lites I've seen have enough adjustment in their mounting brackets to work well without modification.

I really appreciate your helpful advice and agree that it would be nice to have the fogs on with the parking lites and with the highs. Despite what some narrow-minded, no-help-whatsoever forum troll might think, there are benefits to running fog lights even when there is no fog.

Trevor:

Edit: Based on your advice, I just ordered the ebay lites. I doubt that I'll be disappointed. Thanks again.

He is an awesome seller! I bought my spoiler from him for a really good price, plus it was for the RS spoiler and he didn't charge me any differently. A++

Let me know how the install goes for the fog lights, I live in a valley which is usually covered in fog. Still debating if I should get them or not, I would buy the OEM simply because I know it comes with a warranty.
