New HID set, three fuses blown.
For three days I loved my new 6000k HID's. While passing through a DUI checkpoint this cop told me my headlight was out. Sure enough, the blue 15 fuse blew. I replaced with a 20 and a 30, both blew as soon as I tried to turn the lights on. Running stock lights for now until I isolate the problem. Anyone had this happen? What gives? Do I need fuse upgrades to run these things?

check for exposing wire under your hood. It must cause a short circuit
|
Where did you buy the HIDs? What brand?
|
HIDEXTRA was the seller. No exposed wires in my hood. I'm thinking about switching up the bulb/ballast order. . Maybe try to isolate where the defect is.
|
My fogs did that to me... It was the aftermarket relay. It wasn't sealed too well, and it had gotten water in it.

Dude, if you have a 15 amp fuse and you bump it all the way up to a 30 amp, you may melt something else in the circuit. Don't do that.

I have seen this problem before with a set of HID's on my 2008 XB, my cousin and i trouble shooted for hours switching bulbs around and trying them on my cousins car. that what ever we tried, once we turn on the lights it would flash and blow a fuse. so we came to a conclusion that the problem was with the ballast that they were defective. after i have got them replaced they work perfectly fine. i suggest borrowing set of ballast from a friend and test them out.

^^^ Yup this is def the ballast get in touch with HIDextra there should be a warranty on em no??
Get em swapped out ASAP and please please as said before you up the amperage like that you can burn something and it will get ugly and expensive very very fast!! |
