Default Rear Wiper Delete...

Has anyone done a Rear Wiper Delete and put an LED "get off my ___ " light in the resulting hole?

Haven't seen anything yet like that. I know some have talked about installing an additional BU light there, but I haven't seen any pictures of anyone doing it yet. I deleted mine and installed my Back-Up Camera there, worked great!

so thinking about doing this...how hard is it? any "how-to" out there??

Probably just cover it up with a keyhole cover until I can afford to have it sealed and repainted....

step one: remove wiper
step 2: remove door panel
step 3: unbolt and remove wiper motor assembly

Lowes sells a plug that does a decent job for a buck Jay. I have my rear view cam mounted in that hole as well.

That does look clean! Since my xB is black, I'm hoping I won't have to paint it. I'm also gonna try to get a Rukus badge from Australia and Toyota badges from my dealership. Gonna black those out too. What size is that plug?

What size is the plug and what is it made of? Lowes and Home Depot have both nylon and zinc-plated steel plugs in numerous sizes. Does the plug fit snugly as-is or is it necessary to use some adhesive? TIA

Its 1" and you need to use some silicone and seal it. I put a little around the lip before pushing it through and then from the inside i removed the back panel and put somemore generously around the plug to seal and hold it in.

^^Thanks. Two more questions, is the plug metal or plastic? Home Depot has both. Where did you get the paint, rattle can or touch-up?

Wait... you guys are taking out your wipers? Why? Scion cheaps out and won't put a rear wiper on the tC, but you guys that get one take it off?

Is there a new "base models look cool" trend, or is there a functional reason to lose it?

Rear wiper for what? Dont need it , windows tinted Black and it looks much better without it. Wiper delete has been a very popular mod since the release of the 1st gen xB's so i wouldnt consider it a new trend.
Never understood the need for a rear wiper on such a small vehicle designed for on road use. My feeling is if the windows get so dirty you need a wiper on the rear maybe time to wash your car

Most cars on the road today don't have a rear wiper. I feel it's unnecessary. I never used mine, so I removed it.

Less is more. Not a fad, just a fact.

Only thing I didn't like when I removed my rear wiper is that my rear window gets dirty as hell now since I go like 2-3 months with out a wash

It's mostly aesthetics, it makes the rear look cleaner, same goes with de-badging albeit, badges aren't functional like a rear wiper.

I find the rear wiper very useful so I haven't done the rear wiper delete and I don't think I plan on doing it. But it does look clean on the xB2s I've seen that's done the delete but it's just not me.
