I have started my install on the Cold Air Intake, due to the lack of time, I couldn't take off my bumper, so I just made it short ram for now. Even as short ram, this thing is a freaken' monster, roars like a mother ;) I definitely feeel the power, completely satisfied with this intake, can't beat the fitment and performance!

Cold Air Extension will be installed tommorow morning asap.

i love that you went half way with the intake install! i was about to flame you but i read your descrip and it just made me laugh

keep it up man, the front bumper isnt too difficult to take off. ive done it a couple times cause i kept forgetting that the fog lights had screws...

is it hard to take out the old intake with the cowl still in place? cause i still dont understand the instructions on how to remove it...

that same thing happens to me. i usually get impatient and decide to install stuff in a rush and end up having to leave it half done :D

i didnt buy the intake yet. still doing some research for prices and all that. i think that all of the CAIs out there are the same design so i just wanna find a cheap one.

i wondered about the cowl cause it looks like it might be hard to reach the throttle body

 

Oh, haha getting to everythin' was pretty easy, I'd say even a guy like me that doesn't really know what he's doin can even do this. Especially with the instructions provided by injen, a 10 yr old kid can do this. =] It was that simple.

 

thanks for the reassurance. i guess toyota's choice for mounting the engine further back makes the front end shorter but having the intake manifold behind the block just seems tuner unfriendly

 

Where did u put the air filter. once i get my AEM cold air im gonna take off the two fake bumper brake cooler things, and then im gonna put the air filter close to that

 

in general CAIs draw air from right behind the brake duct openings. no need to custom fit that in there, all the pipes are designed to put the intake point from there!

 

I take it the instructions require you to take off the front bumper? Can you get away without removing the front bumper for installing the Injen? I installed the TRD on mine, and didn't have to do that.

 

I'd say you would have to take off the bumper, just for a clean professional install. Injen provides vibra-mounts which is mounted a little towards lower right of the battery which is hard to access if the bumper is on. It's really easy to take the bumper off, just a hassle =P Yeah, but I'd say in order to professionally install the Injen, take off the front bumper

Can you report on how your mileage is with this add on?
I am undecided whether to get one or not. If not I will at least get the replacement higher volume filter.
More power is good, but I dont want to sacrifice my MPGs

 

With or with out the cold air intake, it seemed like I'm getting fairly around the same MPG. But I will tell you that, having this cold air intake will persuade you to push your car just cause of the power it gives as well as the cool noise =) I definitely recommend this Injen Cold Air Intake, but I'm sure you'll be fine MPG wise and if there is a difference, it's most likely fairly small.

Maybe an expert around here can give you the technical info on this topic, but as far as my observation goes, I really haven't noticed a difference in MPG.

 

Is the Injen CAI only for 5 speeds?

I though so too. But for some reason, trdsparks said it was for manuals only?

 

dont worry. sometimes there are differences if there a clearance issue between manuals and autos. for the xB2 we have none of that issue and we should be able to use any intake/header/exhaust part out there.
