2013 xB Automatic..Loud noise like Exhaust leak under load..
 

Hi,
My car started to lose power gradually and then one day it started making a very load exhaust leak like noise when you attempt to accelerate.
It also has significant power loss.The transmission fluid is a bit dark but it seems to shift well without any slippage.
The noise appears only when the engine is under load. Completely quiet when idling that's why I don't think it is an exhaust leak at all.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Rattling noise and loss of power sounds like a bad catalytic converter. Here's a few tests to determine whether your cat is plugged up.
