Taking to rob further some time ago they would make a kit but need a donner car and upfront R+D money.
You do bring up a good point about the ecu. I thought about it some time ago and the only thing I could think of would maybe be a wiring harness adapter of sorts so use the 2azfe harness but adapted to the 2arfe ecu. Kind of like unichip or other piggy back systems use.
Or maybe cut and rewire parts of a 2arfe harness to adapt to a 2azfe motor? Not sure which would be cheaper/easier and if it’s even possible.

One other option is to drop to a 5 speed auto. There are 2.4 that came with the 5speed. So take the wiring harness and ecu.

Yes, the more I look into this, the 5spd is the answer. The 5sp (U250E) was used in the camrys 2004, 2005 extensively with the 2.4. It will be much cheaper to buy one of these and the ECU, harness to go along with it. I do have some concerns with the "sport mode" of my Xb. I wonder if I put a new ECU in, will it manually toggle through all 5 gears and how will it affect the display on the gauges. This may end up a big issue with the conversion. If yall are talking about swaps why not go all out and do a 2jz with the 6 spd and make it RWD? It may cost more but in the end a 1000 horse box? seems like a good idea to me since you can pick up 2jz's for around $1500... just imo thats what i would do, there was a xb2 doing the gumball with this swap if you havent seen it

Corrected me if I’m wrong but I thought I read somewhere that an auto 1st gen tc tranny was put into an auto xb2 and it would not shift right because of the sport mode. Or it’s vice versa.

The more and more I think about this, the more I think that it is just not worth it. It is not the money cause I can get all the parts for under $1k, I just don't think it will work with all the ECU and wiring issues. Also, the transmission mounts, driveshaft mods....uck. I am going to abandon this thought and just live with the 4 spd auto.

well if it was me and i had the 10 grand i would need for turbo i might just do the full 2arfe + 6sp just to have it and be the 1st probly in the world lol

i was thinking about doing that for a while after talking to you and following your thread. I just decided to do Level Ten Auto build on the 4spd, will handle up to 500whp got the Full Rebuild. Did BC Cams, valves, valve springs, jp pistons and rods, fast scion turbo kit up to 20psi. Should make 400whp at 15 psi with the head work im having done. Without you Michael or Fred, my job would have been a lot harder. Thanks guys for your advice over the last year.

also can i ask how much the hardware has set you back? for everything? has to be close to 10k. also are you getting it street or dyno tunned?

Closer to 12,000 after head Labor and install labor. Cams need to be re adjusted to the valves, since we are on lifts they have to set them in measure tear it all apart grind down, and repeat. Can be a very lengthy process. Was 500 for the Head Work (valve grind, cam placment) I got a hell of a price of 500 for full install of all the mods.
have a 15 year master toyota tech doing the engine build, he is just amazing. I had the money, have never done anything like this before, probably would not get another chance so i jumped on it. I was a bit heistant but im sure i will love the outcome.

Sucks they gave you the wrong info. The 2.5 fits right into the same mounts as the 2.4 and vice versa.
