2nd gear issues

Hey everyone. I seem to be having an issue with second gear. When shifting in or out it has a significant 'clunk' (both feel and noticeable noise) All other gears are a smooth transition.
2013 with TRD short shift currently still on first tank of 87 oct...

Anyone else have/had a similar issue?

Remove short shift kit. I noticed the same thing when I installed mine.

I was worried that would have been the cause. Anther response I got was possible plate matching... hope neither is the actual issue and it will sort itself out with a little more driving. Provided it doesn't damage - I can live with the feeling for a while. It sucks having spent the money only to find out that it's not working for me.

Neither of the short shift kits seem to work well in the long run. The TRD is the easier of the two, but from reading post after post, it's ultimately bad news. OE shifting quality isn't improved by either of the available kits.

Seems to me people tend to buy the kits based on some concept of superior shifting, but just doesn't appear to pan out in reality. Each person has to decide what suits them best (preferably homework done before purchase), but seems to me there's plenty of bull-faddle in this market. The kit either results in quality shifting or it doesn't, a somewhat shorter throw isn't the only consideration.

Mine is a 2012 with the trd short shifter and the clunk really bugs me it mostly happen 2nd to 1st at very low speeds like when looking for parking in a lot! I have 9400 miles and I did not think it could be the trd. If it is I may consider taking it off. Anyone know for sure?
