The last 2 times I got gas (filled almost empty tank at 2 different places), the pump kept shutting off over and over again like it thought the tank was full when it was far from it. I had to keep re-squeezing the handle every few seconds until I knew it was full for real. The first time, I thought it was a broken gas pump, but since it happened a second time, my thoughts have changed.

Any thoughts from any of you?

The tank may not be venting properly. Could be anything from bugs building nests in the vent lines to a bad electrical connection at a vent valve, if the car has one. Try playing with things around the charcoal canister
