Default gas range messed up after filling tank after its near full

I just bought a 2012 xb 5 days ago and on the first day i drove it home, it needed a fill up as it was near empty. so i filled it up and gas range went to 459 KM (im canadian sorry). I drove it some and the gas needle went down to not even the first quarter mark and i decided to fill it back up but made the mistake of not turning the car off when filling. So i filled it up the little bit, cost me like 8 bucks and now the fuel range went to 325 or 350 i forgot exactly but it was around there and the tank was full! i was like what the hell?? thats like 100 km less than what a full tank read earlier.

so i did some research and found a thread for toyotas that said if u fill it up less than 10 litres the computer wont recognize it or something cuz its too little.

SO at this point i went home, still with a full tank, and still reading 325km for the range. I took off the negative battery terminal for 10 mins and put it back on and restarted the car. Now it read 415km. better much better but still not at the 459km it was the first time i filled it up. So i let tank go to near empty and did a fill up. I was hoping it would fix the issue but no still, i filled it up and it is reading 415km.

what happened here? did i confuse the ecu and it needs to be reset in another way? upon more research, i read that these cars should be getting 300miles on a full tank which is like 480km

i really dont know what to do at this point and how to get it back to what it was reading a few days ago.

anyone know what could be the issue?

I know for my 2012 Scion XB it depends where i get gas and during what season as they change the mix between winter and spring. On average i think i get about 315 miles per tank and when the mix changes it goes to 285. It also depends on if you are running that a/c as well and if you are heavy with the gas pedal.

No worries, it’s common next full refill should reset everything!
