Looking to get a new Exhaust system...

What do you guys think... which one?? I'm not looking for a loud system, just something with a nice tone and maybe a little better response (if possible). Any experiences with any of these systems would be great to hear about. Thanks guys!

1. TRD Japan xB High Response Muffler Ver.S

2. Tanabe Medalion Concept G Exhaust

3. Tanabe Medalion Touring Exhaust

4. HKS ES Wagon Exhaust

5. DC Sports Stainless Steel Exhaust

AFAIK all 5 you listed are axle-backs, which will change the tone a little, but not really do anything as far as response or even a minor performance gain. The Strup (single exhaust) and Tsudo Dual Fireball (dual exhaust) are the only two I know of that are "scuba" cat-backs and include a larger diameter mid-pipe in addition to the axle-back portion. I wouldn't consider spending my hard earned $$ on anything but the Strup or Tsudo, unless you're getting an incredible deal.

Don't forget the CX racing system.

Isn't that a 3" system meant specifically for FI motors?

For the most part, yes. My buddy's been running it for the past few months without a hiccup. It's loud, but doesn't sound awful.

How is his low-end throttle response with virtually no back pressure?

He said he didn't notice much of a difference, but it definitely picks up in the higher RPM's.
He's running the K&N intake and the CXRacing exhaust. Not a bad combo, but I still think something to restrict the exhaust flow would be beneficial.

HKS is really loud without the silencer. The JDM trd exhaust may not fit do to it being made for a whole different motor but I dont see why it couldn't be modified to work but that kind of defeats the purpose.

I don't if it is or isn't. I have had it on for three years now so I can't remember if I lost and low end grunt but in all honesty, I don't think I did. I have no idea if I gained anything through midrange or not either but it looks great and sounds fantastic. Very throaty and deep and it roars above 4k rpm's.

i wanted to get the cx one but i was told it was pretty loud so i went with strup and kept the scuba tank.

I'm running Strup and it's great.

papo 06-04-2011 04:15 AM

Does anyone have a picture of what the strup can looks like, and how much $$$ does it run for I'm looking for a quiet not to raspy can to make a custom exit for it.

It looks like your exhaust hangs lower than mine.

That would be a personal problem that you might not want to admit to...

jnaval 06-04-2011 07:47 AM

Wow, I didn't even think it would come across that way. Um, no pun intended? :silly:
