Default Oil plug gasket

I have been changing my oil every 5000 miles with full synthetic. I pull my 08 xB up on 3" Race Ramps to be able to get my oil drain container under the car. I have used this container which is a flat container with a slope to a round drain with a crossbar to prevent the plug from falling into the container. I have dropped several washers in there when I get finished with the oil change for many years.

This is my question - does the oil pan threaded drain have a "lip" on it approximately the thickness of an aluminum gasket? When I loosed the plug this time, I may have dropped the aluminum gasket into the drain vessel but I cannot confirm that. I am wondering if the gasket is stuck to the oil pan which I doubt. I used my fingernail to try to pry something loose but nothing budges so I think I dropped the oil gasket into the vessel.

If you happen to be changing your oil in the next day or so, please feel the drain opening after removing the drain bolt to see if it is flat with the oil pan or if there is a lip approximately 1/16" thick.

Default Gasket

Was able to get a light and look from the side and there is in fact a flat on the oil pan that is about the thickness of the gasket. Found five gaskets in my drain pan. All filled and ready to go.

You may want to get a piece of window screen for the top of your drain pan. I've always hated dipping into the hot oil when I drop the plug but, I always replace the crush washer with a fresh one.
