Questions for Motor and Transmission swap
Hey guys, I was wondering what has successfully been swapped into the second gen XB. I'm looking for around 350 to 400 horsepower when done building with room to grow. I would like it to be a six speed auto as well so that my wife can still drive it as well. Any help you can give me I would appreciate. I would like my new box to feel like my old hhr ss I had a few years back.
P.s. I have a 2010 scion xB with a 4 speed auto

350-400 all motor you are talking a V8 and RWD.
The most straight forward swap would be the 2GR-FE 3.5L V6 out of the Camry or ES 350. This is built for FWD and both vehicles have a 6 speed auto and an option for the 2.5L I4 engine so there shouldn't be too much fabrication needed beyond the motor mounts, ECU, and possibly swapping the drive train. That will get you 268HP and then with mild boost you can get into the power range you want.

You might be able to get it to run till the end of time, but getting into the 300+ hp range is going to take modification, and once you mod, reliability goes out the window....usually.

Oh ill be going turbo for sure. And all I have worked on prior to this is a 1973 camaro 2002 camaro and a 1963 impalla the hhr I left stock cause I hate messing with electronics. The 2.5 swap would be coming from the Camry?

the 2.5 swap could come from a Scion tC, Camry or a Rav-4 FWD. The 3.5 could come from a lot of vehicles....Camry, Avalon, Highlander FWD, RAV4 FWD, Sienna FWD or Venza FWD.
If you hate messing with electronics, then an Engine swap in a newer vehicle is NOT something I would recommend.

I've done an absurd amount of research into the 2GR-FE (3.5L V6) engine with either automatic or manual transmission, and it's probably the most ideal swap out there. Some reasons:
I was about to take the plunge and start the build myself, but I just couldn't locate a suitable donor for the drivetrain, so I'll probably hold off a few years until these engines become more common on the used market.
- 266-280HP stock with plenty of realperformance modifications available.
- It uses the same ECU pinout and connector so you should have little or no rewiring to do (just use the new engine harness and ECU).
- It physically fits in a TC1 so it should have plenty of room in a TC2
- I'm told the "Blade Master G" (only available in Japan) uses our same subframe with this engine, so it may be possible to source OEM mounts, axles, etc.

There is actually a lot of space between the firewall and the block in our car. The intake manifold fills a lot of it so it doesn't seem like it at first unless you put the car on a lift and look from underneath.
