FIC wiring question
I know a few of you have hard-wired your FICs and I need to know how you wired the crank and cam sensors. Did you follow AEM's instructions and intercept the - crank and - cam wires or did you tap them?
AEM released new wiring instructions a few weeks ago and changed the wiring of the - crank and - cam to tap rather than intercept. I have a Boomslang harness and it isn't working. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Are any of you having any problems with your hard-wired FICs? Specifically, are you getting any CELs related to crank or cam sensors? I get a P0335 CPS CEL and the car is undriveable. TIA. |
hey isnt the crank sensor code related to not using the resistor mod
|
Usually but Boomslang already has the correct resistors in the harness. This problem appears to be something new. Dezod, Descendant and Boomslang are all aware of it and Descendant claims to have a fix. I sent the harness back to Boomslang for them to fix. I'm not sure yet exactly what the problem is but it's in the harness wiring.
|
well if descendant wants to be more known and appriciated then they should post the fix
|
AFAIK Rob is sharing the fix with Boomslang. I think it might just be going back to the old method of intercepting the - crank and cam instead of tapping them but since BS is fixing my harness, I'll have to wait until I get it back to see what they did.

Posting OUR fix / solution only creates chaos between WORLD-Racing / DESCENDANT; Boomslang & AEM. Our fix works perfect with our DESCENDANT system & will probably correct the problems everyone else is having but until tested there's no promise. In the meantime if you are desperate and need a 100% functional harness that doesn’t have these preexisting issues our deal still stands... $795.00 PNP Harness & AEM FiC All tested on an actual application before shipped! BTW...the HARNESSES BOOMSLANG MADE FOR US ARE BLACK INSTEAD OF GREEN!! Looks 10x better & a lot less noticeable. |
good point rob thanks for clarrifying didnt look at it that way

Why must you keep posting these great deals AFTER I already bought something else? When I bought the CXR turbo kit for $1200 your PnP kit was $6500, now it's $4250. When I bought the Boomslang harness and FIC, you didn't have a package deal on the combo so I bought separately and paid $820. Just kidding... I understand your position regarding Boomslang's harness problems and certainly can't fault you for offering better deals on your products. It's just that the timing has been off for me. Now I already have $4000 invested in a custom kit, two FICs and a non-working harness enroute to Boomslang for repair. Anyway, I appreciate what you do for the Scion community and love your turbo kits, intake mani, etc. If I could start over I'd simply buy your PnP kit but I'm too far in now to turn back. I may still need a harness if you'll sell me one w/o the FIC. I'm giving Boomslang a few days to fix my harness but I already told them that I can't wait weeks for it. Peace Brother. |
C'mon guys.... can't anyone tell me how you wired your FIC???

There is a post I made a while back with the wiring for the ecu and pinouts, cross reference that with the harness. |

x2 ive never had the maf code, i cut the maf holder off the stock airbox and thats what my maf sits in it perfectly designed for the maf's calibration |

I have mine wired as per aem old instructions. I have two resistors one between the cam leads on the fic flying lead and one on the crank sensor leads. I have never gotten any cels for those. My only cel has been the usuall maf, cat, rich cells which I have gotten rid of all except the pesky maf one which sneaks upon me every once in a blue moon. I am know down to -6 ltft and 5 stft during idle which I purposely tuned a bit lean. My biggest issue is still the maf.
There is a post I made a while back with the wiring for the ecu and pinouts, cross reference that with the harness. Great job on the fuel trims. Send me your map? frederick_pohl@yahoo.com As for the MAF problems, did you log your MAF pre-turbo or use someone else's base map or AEM's old TC MAF log? I may be able to help soon since I plan to log my MAF with the stock airbox before installing the turbo kit part deux. Another potential issue I've found is that AEM's base MAF map starts at 0 and jumps all the way to 2.19v in the second y-axis cell. The FIC can only calculate limited precision from 0-2.19V between 2 cells but our MAF spends a lot of time below 2.19V. I had some idle problems until I changed the MAF scale from 2.19v to 1.0v and re-calculated the y scale. I measured my MAF voltage with a meter and it was only 1.35v at idle, 1.7v at 2000rpm. If you're interested I'll be posting my MAF logs soon after I get my harness working. |
