Lightbulb Oil consumption test Riverside Ca

First.... I own 2 Scions 2013 FRS and a 2009 xB. I LOVE them both!. The xB has been a wonder of a car... the space inside and just a basic dependable ride. OK I received the Service letter about the oil consumption test more than a year ago. I just waited and check the oil weekly.... Yes it was using oil.... My xB 2009 has 90K. Anyway I went the Riverside Toyota Dealer and started the oil test. Returned at a 1000 miles and they found 1.5 qts used. The Service put in a brand new loaner 2016 Corolla LE and said the xB would be done in 1 day. It was! I picked it the following day.... All good.... My question is how could the service department repairs so fast?

Lightbulb oil repair

Yeh? That was what I was thinking.... The bill to Toyota Main was $2,500.... I had a new serp belt and water pump at home and the service depart installed my parts during the repair. The only charge to me was for the thermostat replacement. Car runs fine. They must have short blocks ready and waiting... The service guy told me there was many oil consumption repairs being done now... Camry RAV4 and of coarse the xB. I have one of the below OB readers coming right now

The thing is that is the way a dealership is suppose to work. and for the most part they do work like that. the strange thing is that someone posted a good thing about a dealership. 20 bad things get posted before a good thing does. I glade to hear you had and shared a good dealership experience.

I took my 2010 Scion xB in to Ron Tonkin Toyota Scion in Portland Oregon with 149,677 miles on it and they did the oil consumption recall to it. I paid for the water pump, thermostat and serp belt parts and no extra labor. They paid labor and rental car. The way they do the repairs is called an "in-frame" overhaul. They drop the oil pan, remove the cylinder head, and pull out the pistons and rods. They replace the pistons and rings only. They reuse the rods and rod bearings which is perfectly fine. A tech that has done a few of these recalls should be able to do it in one full day. When I was a tech at a dealership, I did repairs like this every day.
