everything, it won't fit, it will cost you more in replacing faulty parts, you will blow your engine, etc

i bought this kits from them for my crx. in the end only used the intercooler. all the other parts were ether wrong, broke on me or not used.. spent weeks shipping parts back and forth to get the right stuff then just had the shop put a custome kit togather.

Hmm. thanks! i was thinking of seeing who else made kits. im not looking for MAX power for my auto tranny and used kits were hard to find. I figure someone must make a decent kit that may not put down 230-250 whp. 200+ would be fine with me. thanks for the info

If you're looking to pay little for a turbo kit NEW, at the end of it you'll be paying a lot more because of non-quality product causing issues. With forced induction, gotta pay to play.

i would still go with descendant and run low boost with there tunner kit. look at scionfred, he run no fuel magament with his low boost set up.

Really? ScionFred use no management? Interesting... wonder if you could get the OEM ECU reflashed with the supercharged map and run lower boost levels.

well... i do have the unichip. but i thought the tuner friednly version didn't inculde parts like intercoolers/or injectors or something like that.

With the right tools, skill and time you could make a turbo kit like that work. However, it's not worth the time or effort to do so. As suggested, the Descendent tuner kit with 440cc inj's is the best way to run low boost on a budget. 440cc are small enough that you don't need management yet flow enough for 5-6psi and ~260bhp. Some form of closed loop AFR enrichment is a very good idea. The FIC, Split Second Enricher or URD AFR Calibrator can provide this but the Unichip can't.

What is FIC/ SSE/ or the URD thing

They have always sold for under 2k.

FIC = AEM Fuel/Ignition Controller
SSE = Split Second Enricher
URD thing = don't bother.

Unfortunately the CXR kit falls into the same category as the all the ebay kits. The only exception is that the CXR kit actually fits without a lot of cutting, welding and custom fabrication. However the CXR kit comes with a manifold that will crack, an unreliable chinese turbo and the wrong size intake pipe. To make my $1200 CXR kit work required a new manifold, custom downpipe, custom intake pipe, IC piping changes, new turbo, new oil feed and return lines, etc. All totalled making the CXR kit work cost another $2000 and many man hours. Not worth it.

FTO: What's wrong with the URD AFR Calibrator? It works just like the SSE but with the programmable control of the FIC.

Haha, I only read his post, not yours (so I don't know which device you were talking about). It said "URD thing".....if he couldn't type it out I figured there's no point in him even trying it :) (basically I was just kidding)

Anyways the Split Second Enricher is great IMO....cost effective and simple. That tunes the closed loop, then you can use any piggyback (preferably the F/IC cause that's what everyone enjoys) to tune the open loop.

Understood... Gadget at URD really knows his stuff. Unfortunately for us, his specialty is supercharged Toyota trucks, not turbo Scions. The URD box does have 2 major drawbacks which prevented me from using it.

1) Expensive at $250
2) Serial port interface requires a USB adapter for most (me)

The SSE is a bit pricey too at $200 but it's simple and effective. Arguably the FIC is the best bang for the buck as long as it works as intended, which it appears to do with MT Scions. Aside from RJscion who claims to have had his FIC custom wired, every AT Scion I am aware of has had major issues with the FIC. The FIC is cheap enough though to consider using one just for CL tuning and avoid all the crk/cam sensor and FI issues. The O2 sensor tuning works great.

I propose that DJ not be allowed to boost his XB until he learns the difference between closed and open loop. :)
