12v power source that is constant power

I'm looking for a best place to tap into a 12V power that has constant power that still has power even with car being off..

I know I can tap it from radio or ignition, but I don't want to take out the radio..
And ignition doesn't have power with car being off...

Let me know if there is good place to tap into power that is just under the driver side dash...

I've tried the fuse box tap, but with fuse tap you can't close the cover....

there should be a constant/12v wire in the underdash, dont know what color it is off the top of my head. Getting the deck out is really simple... unsnap the bezel around radio (including the vents) and there are 4 10mm bolts holding the deck in. What are you trying to power? Make sure whatever it is wouldnt draw too much current/amperage from the deck

Ok it's all taken care

There is a big fat blue wire (looks like 4 gauge wire)
It's on it's own wire with harness...
Previously aftermarket alarm was installed and they happend to tap it there... I just tap it there..
That wire is main wire from the battery which is constatnt 12V
But careful when you tap it, you can't just use wire tap since wire is really thick
What alarm installer did was remove little section wire wrapper part and tap it that way...
I just tap it to that wire... make sure to add a inline fuse...

I didn't want to cut any wires to void my warranty so I just soldered my remote turn on wire to the contact of the cigarette lighter from behind. Pulled off the panels around the shifting console. It works!

That will work, but it won't be constant power source...
Cig lighter only has power when key is turned on...
What I was looking for was when key is off, it still has power...

Dont quote me on this but im more than positive that the cig plug in my xb is a constant..

I haven't tested on every Toyota, but from what I've tested on few of the Toyota cars, Cig lighter is only ON when car is ON...

I understand what your talking about, but when I was hard wiring my radar detector I tested that cig plug and think it was constant... It may turn off a few minutes after the car is off but not immediately
This is kind of off topic but on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten hardest), how difficult is it to install those HID's

LEDmod 11-20-2008 03:18 AM

Probably 3-4 scale..

Basically..
Remove the stock bulb
Put the new HID bulb in there..
Mount the ballast, using screw or double sided tape..
Connect the hearness from the stock bulb to the ballast
Then connect the wire from the ballast to the HID bulb..
Pretty much all plug and play...
Less then 1 hour installation for beginner..

I may hit you up come payday for a set.. it the ballast waterproof or is it better to mount it inside the car

Yes, it's water proof....
It's usually mounted behind the headlight, but you can just look around and find a good place to mount it...
