Aluminum diamond plate engine cover W/ PIX
 

I am in the process of creating a one off engine bay cover out of aluminum diamond plate. It will mount to the valve cover where the stock plastic cover sat, extend back almost to the firewall, and forward almost to the radiator. the plate is 24" x 24". hopefully I will have a few pictures by late Sunday night of the progress so far. Any comments are welcome. Also, I'm not sure if this will be a SHOW ONLY piece or everyday. Factors will be heat, and clearance of hoses. More to come.....

Well, a friend and I finished the cover today <Sunday> Looks great. I was going to take pictures as we went for a "How to" but (there's always a butt) i was an IDIOT and forgot my camera.man was I ____ed. anyways. my friend is machining 2 collar studs to attach to the OEM studs that hold the plastic cover on. the new METAL one needs the clearance for the injectors. I will be posting pics on Monday!!! Oh. it is for shows ONLY!!! TOO MUCH HEAT!!! :( :x

Maybe you can convert it into a stove or something but other than that I see no use for that at all... lol

Well I like it. it's only for shows. can't leave it on all the time. builds up to much heat.
still not quite done yet. still waiting for my buddy to make 2 custom risers for the stud, the plate sits on the injectors. it will be about 1" higher than in the pics. Also trimming it with red silicone hose. <on order>

Ya a little too big for my liking, but if you like it then awesome...... def a big props for doing something different and custom for your ride...

It will look good when its done, there are a few more tricks thats going to be done with this. The risers are going to look sweet on it.

The pictures do no do it justice. It doesn't looks has huge in person as it does in the pics.

you could toss some burgers on it at get togethers...lol... no disrespect...but just not feelin' it. ... Maybe if you did it more long ways to conture the valve cover instead .... Just looks like a big plate that way... props though.... Custom ideas come with trial and error... and the end product usually comes out pretty cool so dont give up :)

hmmmm..... or... what if you had it loovered at an angle all across it at the size it is? that could give a cool look to it...and also provide a release for the heat that would otherwise get built up under it.

or custom emboss/ loover something to do with Scion into it? that would be cool too

Well he won't be driving with this plate on. It will be just for when the vehicle is parked and the hood is up. IE shows and M&G's

yeah I know...but just think some sort of loovered design in in it...or embossed with Scion for the shows would look pretty cool too.

They have talked about it, not sure what direction they decided to go with it though.
