a couple of pics of my custom gear shift knob (and D3x)

just got home to find an adapter in the mail i have been waiting for, so was finally able to put my trusty ole shifter knob into my new car ... yeah i know it isn't something that most like .. but it fits me and my personality :P

also in the shot is my Avic-D3x that i installed this weekend .. hopefully next weekend i will be getting rid of the radar detector cord and little clamps that i put beside the radio ...

cool!!!!!! Not for me, But I applaude your indivdualality!!! Go for what you think is right for you!!!! jh

TerribleTed 04-08-2008 01:32 AM

Looks cool as hell to me!!!

-Devil- 04-08-2008 01:34 AM

i guess it kinda shows my biased views of older street rods or lead sleds ... haha ...

TerribleTed 04-08-2008 01:42 AM

Nutin wrong wit dat:) My other cars are a 1965 Corvair and a 1972 Datsub 510 Pickup atm, but most of the cars I have owned until I got the xB were pre 1972 american (some muscle, some not so muscular). I loved my 1968 R/T Cuda 340 340HP back in the day. The street rod style shift knob like yours works for me in almost anything. A hust style T shifter would work for me also:)

-Devil- 04-08-2008 01:47 AM

nice collection of old rods ... i have had a 69 camaro, 2 63 fairlanes, and then a handfull of fox body mustangs ...

i had thought about a hurst shifter ... or even a pistol grip .. but decided to pull this one off the shelf and clean it up and put it in the xB instead ...

TerribleTed 04-08-2008 03:11 AM

I like yours better than the T shifter for the xB

-Devil- 04-08-2008 03:21 AM

yeah, one side effect i wasn't expecting but i like ... since the stock knob covers so much of the metal shaft ... now it looks like a raised shifter ...

hah, it made sense .. but i am tired to ..

yeah, after i put it on ... other ideas keep running through my head ... will have to see what comes out.

Whispaz 04-08-2008 03:38 AM

i know there is a 1st gen xB with a crazy "dark" theme. looong shift knob, black/rust colored ext., "piercing" in the front bumper... i cant remember what else, just that its amazing

-Devil- 04-08-2008 03:46 AM

i have seen pics of one that had the rear windows filled in ... and a satin black paint job ... with an old style interior .. and white walls ...

dont guess i have seen the pics of the one you speak of ... but if it is pulled off right, it would be a good look ..

may have to see what i can do, would be a challenge tho .. esp considering this is also my daily driver.

Whispaz 04-08-2008 03:52 AM

MooseMobile 04-09-2008 10:43 PM

That looks awesome. I'd like to do something like that, but with a moose head instead. I just don't know where to find a moose head that i could convert into a shift knob...

Whispaz 04-09-2008 10:50 PM
