Thanks!
Im using my phones hot spot for wifi and im using a logitech bluetooth adapter with the rca's running to a amp for the sound. I think it sounds better than it did with the aftermarket stereo. I'll be addind a mono amp and a 10" sub I the back in the near future. I must say its nice having any type of music, movies, navagation, internet, etc at your finger tips while on the road.

08superwht, very nice fab work! i like this setup a lot!
just a comment on bluetooth - i was using the stock head unit's bluetooth and it was horrible as you alluded to. i have been using a gold plated AUX cable instead and to me, the annoyance of having a cable plugged into my phone is well worth the quality i get.
my ipad mini mount that i built was a no-go but im still trying to figure out how i can mount one in front of the radio while keeping the dash looking stock and having the tablet be easily removable......
anyway, good work on your progress! having all that at your fingertips is definitely awesome.

Not sure how much room you need, but you might be able to get away with mounting the fiberglass pan to the outside of the bezel. Doing it this way you would only have to push the stereo back about a 1/2" or so. Then just use fiberglass / bondo to finish it and make it look good. The Samsung tablets don't have magnetic backs, so I fiberglassed in (3) 5/16" rare earth magnets to the back of the pan, then glued (3) rare earth magnets to the back of the tablet. I dremeled the fiberglass so the magnets on the tablet are recessed when it's mounted.
Any reason for keep the stock stereo?
Here is a breakdown of my complete setup:
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Tablet
- Logitech Wireless Speaker Bluetooth Adapter (980-000540)
- Alpine MRP-F300 Amp
- Dual Shielded RCA Cable
- (1) Female To (2) Male RCA 'Y' Splinter X2

Needs to be resized a little smaller to properly fit my clubs logo in between the Google search bar and my apps bar. Then if I can find an app that'll make it dance left to right I'll be happy.

Excellent build thus far! I am curious, are you sticking to streaming services such as iheart and pandora or is there anything you are doing for regular AM/FM? Im considering this but wondering if it is worth me upping my data plan.
PS - Subscribed!!

As far as data goes I'm on a 6GB plan and if I'm streaming 95% music, and the remaining 5% movies I only use about 3GB of data. The months where I'm taking the kids back and forth from daycare, streaming their cartoons on netflix the whole time I use up all 6GB. I'm either going to switch to an 8GB plan or just buy and download a couple of their favorite movies and just play them from the device so I'm not buring up my data plan.
All in all I love it and am 100% glad I made the switch!

Unlimited data package and I burn around 30 gigs a month. No need to buy movies with places like pirate bay, kickasstorrents, etc.

I am working on this myself at the moment getting all my parts and getting the tablet molded in to the dash. You can get OTA FM/AM with a DVB-T tuner and a DVB-T antenna using the SDR touch app. Check out this thread to get you started.

BUMP!
Ven, how is the setup working out for you so far?
In my particular case, the stock bluetooth setup is nice for phone calls but the quality while streaming music sucks. To minimize cost (my primary goal), i've just been using a gold plated AUX cable with my iphone and im happy with the results in the 4 months that i've owned the car. I don't want to sink a couple hundred of dollars for an alternative solution that would essentially give me the same functionality which is why im sticking with the head unit that came with the car. ps, i have the stock stereo that comes with xb's, not the upgraded pioneer or navi unit. just the plain ol' stocker.
re: fiberglassing - im lazy and i admit it :D fiberglassing, from the work i've seen others do, is a step that i am too lazy to take. l0l. i appreciate the work you put into your mount and it definitely looks solid in the pics.

Still working fine. Only thing I did since the install was to reposition the yall sensor to match the factory orientation, but the location I chose remained the same. The way I had was okay around town and on some curves by my house, but once you get on it the traction control would kick in, and I almost hit a guardrail going up Mt St Helens a couple of months back with two friends in the car with me. After that I repositioned the sensor and I've had no issues since.
I'd recommend this for anybody, in fact I'm thinking of possibly adding another smaller tablet in the dash behind the steering wheel strictly for some gauges after my turbo install.

I don't. I set the tablet up so that as long as it has power it'll stay on, but once power is off it goes to sleep. I also set the sleep mode to 15secs and it'll turn off at about the same time as the dome light.

Came across another tablet that seems to be about the same size my Nexus 7. The Freelander px2 7" quad-core Android tablet is about $150 new.
Now I'm not saying it'll fit np, but the dimensions appear about right from a video I saw on it.

Did you paint your sub boxes? I used bed liner paint on my under seat boxes (which used Fosgate 8's).

So without realizing it I ended up doing the same kinda tablet you did. Mine is the 2013 version. Quad core processor. I just redid my entire system so here is the pics of the tablet and how I mounted it. I made a sleep button mounted at the bottom so I can manually turn it on and off. I chose this tablet because of its built in storage @ 32gb and gps antenna. I use my cell phone as a hot spot using the pdanet app cost about $7-8.
I shaved down the top and bottom pieces behind the panel. to fit correctly, use some soft side of velcro to help hold in place and prevent any scratching.
I reused the mounting kit from my double din kenwood I had and shaved them down on the back side and held in place with tape plastic welded behind the panel and used some hot glue to help hold in place.
Here is my sleep button, I took a leftover part from a JVC stereo that is normally used for rear support removed the rubber piece, took it down in size to fit in place, drilled a hole using a unibit until it fit perfectly. I had to fill the inside of the rubber to prevent deforming. I dont have a picture but I used another piece of strap to hold the button in place.

My mounting strap back strap, simliar to painters tape but much thicker and stronger.
Installed, I am using a kenwood 955bt to run the audio through.
The rest of my setup, the kenwoods are the mid only, I bought at work for dirt cheap because someone stole everything but the mid out of them. Still need to build the box for the kicker comprt8
After laying down mat on the floor and getting the 5ch amp in
One layer of mat on the inner and outer skins, I plan on doing one more on the outer and filling the openings. Still need to do the back doors
I love my garage
And finish it off with a lil MCM
