Help please, installing backup cam with alpine head unit
I need a small bit of info to hook up my back up cam on my 11 xB.
There are a few posts about this but they are lacking in a few small details.
I understand I am "supposed" to use a alpine video install kit.
I also understand this kit was discontinued and impossible to find.
I also know I don't actually "need" the kit. All I need is the "blue" wire hooked up.
I know where it goes into the head unit.
My question is
Is the other end of the blue wire hooked up to a 12v supply that is activated when in reverse?
I assume this would be the reverse lights power supply wire.
If I am correct, Can anyone tell me an easy way to find and identify this wire.

The wire you are looking for is located under your steering column. You have to remove the panel that has the hood release, traction control and TPMS reset switch. There will be two long horizontal connectors on the left. You want pin #30 on the left one. Its the fat red wire located in the lower right of the connector under the black clip. Makes sure you test it first with a load light or multimeter. If you look at my pic you can see that I already have a red T-Tap connector hooked up to the red reverse trigger wire. The green wire is the tapped signal wire to the head unit.
FYI This is on a 2014 XB but Ive been told that the wire position is the same on earlier 2nd Gen Xbs.
