Default Racing Seats

I wanted to know if anyone has installed racing seats in their Gen2 XB and if was a problem connecting the SRS airbag sensor in the Racing Seat. Any help would be appreciated.

The racing seat likely does not have an SRS airbag sensor (to measure weight on seat). Therefore I would assume anyone installing such seats did encounter a problem (lack of sensor). If you install racing seats, the airbag system warning light will go on. I'm guessing the airbags will no longer work as designed. You can't transfer the sensor, if thats what you're wondering.

Racing seats are for racing vehicles, or show vehicles, not daily drivers, where airbags are an important safety feature.

Depending on what year your B is... I have seen aftermarket custom seat covers that have the sides designed to still allow the stock seat side airbags to deploy properly in an accident. So you might look at that too. Not sure what company sells them...but Scions aren't the only new cars with seat installed side impact airbags...so some are designed to incorporate that feature... just check around.

Thanks for the info. After thinking about it, The seat cover look that is still air bag safe would be the way to go. Although the Racing Seats are Tight, It is after all a daily driver...

A wise choice there.
With it being a DD....I'm sure you would grow quickly to regret putting racing seats in it. Sure it looks sweet...but I'm sure your a** and back will thank you for not getting them since it is a DD.
