Stock Battery Upgrade - What Size?

Hey, all. I'm getting ready to do some serious audio upgrades and was wondering how big the stock battery is and what others have gone with as far as an upgrade? I figure I can get the TRD Cold Air Intake or something to free up a little room as well. Going to be upgrading the Alt at the same time as well.

I am running an Alpine MRP-M500 amp with a 1/2 Farad cap (to prevent lights from dimming) and a 10" Type R Alpine sub and have no problems with the stock battery. I am seriously considering upgrading just to get a better battery, but the stock is doing just fine if you ask me! Oh ya and I am running a 8 gauge power cable from my battery to my cap and amp...

You can probably fit a Kinetik HC2400 or Powermaster D3100 with a little fab work. When I get the cash, I'll probably run a single D3100 under the hood and a couple of them under my seats as well.
I currently have a highoutput alternator, Kinetik HC1800 under my passenger seat as well as my OEM battery. I've been pushing 2000watts and I have absolutely no problems. Voltage stays around 13.3volts full tilt at idle.

how do you hook up the kinetik battery to?
did you run a line to the stock battery or run a line to the alternator?

I did the big 3... Which consists of running a larger wire to the stock battery, then I just ran the positive from the stock battery to the Kinetik, then to a circuit breaker, then to the amplifiers. Wire batteries in parallel. Wiring in series will double the voltage, which you DO NOT want. :D

thanx
i have an oddeysey battery right now and it's working great even when the temps here in LA drop below 40's
its just fire up w/o hesitation
oh forgot to mention it the p680 model. it's freakin tiny

hhmm I have heard some good things about that brand out of nowhere...? anybody had luck with them or bad luck with them (them being odyssey batteries)?

RMCO 01-01-2009 02:36 PM

I've used Odyssey batteries in the past without issues, just not for car audio. I've only heard good things about them but that's all been word of mouth and forum posts. I picked up the Weapon R short ram intake to free up more room to see what I can squeeze in there. I'll keep everyone posted as to what way I go and will put up some pics.

You should be able to squeeze a group 31 sized battery in that space easy, then. I think I can actually fit 2 where I have my TRD intake. I have a TON of room. That's why I opted for the TRD CAI.

Odyssey batteries are pretty decent. Steve Meade was using them for a while, but he switched to Powermaster. Batcap has really nice product and it's small.

Yeah, I went ahead and ordered a Powermaster D3100. Soon as it all gets here I'll throw up some pics of it installed for reference. If there is room for 2, might end up doing it one day lol.

Under the passenger and driver seat there's room. :D

There's a sensor that needs to be moved on the passenger's side and I'm not sure about the driver's side. I have my HC1800 under my passenger's side, and it's golden!

Lol if I put them under the seats I wouldn't be able to put my component amps under them. I'll see how it all works out but not sure how its all gonna come together.

Any pics or examples of amps under the rear bench? And yes, yes... we all already owe you a beer for that write up, lol!
