Default tC 2nd Gen Steering Wheel on the xB?

Has anyone tried to install the new style tC steering wheel onto their 2nd Gen xB?

In all honesty, you'll be better off buying the wheel and trying it yourself. If it works, great. If not, that sucks. Sometimes you have to take the initiative to be a guinea pig of sorts.

I looked into this. The airbag cover where it meets the spokes is slightly different. Yes it will go on, but it will not look factory. There is a post on this somewhere and it is discussed extensively.

Even if you use the tC2 airbag?

I recall a discussion about the tC1 steering wheel, but nothing with the 2nd gen...

I really want to do this if it all bolts up properly. Just did a search and all I can find is people who did the gen 1 tC wheel. I want to retain the audio controls and I want this wheel because it not only looks much nicer, but the wheel itself appears to be thicker. I work with optical screwdrivers all day so I get cramps in my hands from the skinny and hard stock wheel. I understand you would need the tC airbag as well, that is fine.

Keep your eyes peeled on eBay or even car-part.com. there may be a wrecked one in your area.

I put a lexus IS250 steering wheel in my xB. It is so much nicer than the plastic one that came in it. The leather feels a lot better and now i have paddle shifters too! I also hooked up the disp button on the sheel to cycle through the info on the gauge cluster.

I wanted to get a tC2 wheel but at the time they were close to $800 with the airbag on ebay.

I don't see why a tC wheel wouldn't work. You might just have to move wires around in the plugs but that should be it. All the buttons do is make a ground contact.

Pics. I bought the scion emblems from ebay. they are the closest match i could find for the size but doesn't exactly fill in the hole. I just didn't want a lexus logo showing.

I had these pics on my phone already. I can take better pics if requested.

How hard was it to get the paddle shifters working?

You need an auto but it's pretty easy. The shifter is electronic. When you up or down shift in sport mode, all it does is ground the system.

I spliced a wire into the up and down wires in the loom under the shifter area. Ran those wires to the clock spring, paid $15 each for the pins to snap into the plug from toyota. The steering wheel already has those pins since it already has the paddle shifters. I had to just switch them around in the plug to line them up with the other end of the clock spring. And now you have paddle shifters.

I did the same thing to have the disp button cycle through the info in the guages.
