When attempting to follow the DIY on the 1st gen.. something is missing in that DIY so either i am stuck or is impossible..

I am doing driver door.

When i cut the nylon jacket back off the mechanical cable, the cable is protected by Steel Rope.

How am i suppose to safely cut through that without cutting\breaking the internal mechanical cable that i need access to to link it with my actuator rod?

I'm not sure why you are adding an actuator, but that install is not for the faint of heart. You will need to cut that braided jacket away from the center rod inside the cable. You will also need to make sure and anchor the cable in some way so that the portion of cable you have altered stays put. If that portion of the cable slips or slides when the actuator motor moves, it will not work. Dunno if the way I explained that makes sense. It's the same concept as a brake on a bicycle, the outer portion of the cable has to remain stationary so that the center rod can move.
