xb 2011 Head Unit - no bluetooth
Last night I bought a 2011 xb. I had been test been test driving the 2012 and did not realize the 2011 head unit was different. Didn't notice until after I bought the car that there was no blue tooth and could not make a call through the car's system. What are easy options? Is there a mic already installed and will it be easy to access the mic connection. Thx

easiest option would be to get a $40 bluetooth speaker that clips to your visor.
The 2011 XB's don't have that fancy bluetooth radio like the 2012 have. They made a bluetooth option for the 2011 XB called Blu Logic

But you have to install it. There is no mic in your car. That thing that looks like a mic in the map lights is just a design of the light fixture and is solid
Cheers

http://cnettv.cnet.com/2011-scion-xb...-50106805.html - watch from 3:09 to 3:30 - he basically says that a-la-carte bluetooth is awful bc there is no display and you have to rely on beeping sounds to dial it in right.
you're better off probably saving your $ and not getting that bluetooth option and maybe even finding a newer head unit for sale here on the forums. for the most part, the units are plug and play meaning a 2012-2013 unit will fit on the 2011 with minimal effort/rigging changes.
that way, you can get the updated head unit and buy the mic separately like journey mentioned and, while you will be spending more to go this route, it'll be easier for day to day use. for what its worth.

If you get the 2012 bluetooth head unit make sure you get all the harnesses that come with it especially the harness for the antenna(the 2012 base Pioneer unit has a antenna system that has a connector on one end that plugs into the radio and the conventional round connector that you plug the antenna to)
Also you will have to buy the mic kit from Toyota to plug into the back of the radio($40-$60 cost) because if you don't have the mic then you will not be able to talk on the bluetooth
Good luck
