You are most likely correct. I called Scion directly and they quoted an MSRP of $670.

Why is there a difference in price when buying it from Toyota aftermarket? When I got my 2010 xb it was already installed, and the price on the sticker for the upgraded hu is $449.

Sorry for the confusion. We are not talking about the price for the head unit itself, but rather the navigation add-on unit for the Alpine head unit.

Compared to stand-alone GPS devices, it is a lot of money. Compared to other OEM navigation options it is not that much. It's all relative.

I have had stand alone units and built-ins and I prefer the convenience of the built-ins. No worrying about mounting, wires, or hiding the unit when the car is parked.

For that convenience, I would be willing to pay a bit more.

Default Navigation add on and video input kit

This head unit is actually quite cool adding on navigation is as simple as buying the add-on module from Toyota and hooking it up.
PT545-00100 navigation module
Cool you can set the vehicle point to your car so if you have a red xD it can be a red xD.

Optomize site will be selling a Video input kit that allows back up camera to tie in and a video iPod or device input through the radio's screen.
Plug and Play only when car is stopped though.

Sorry but your car needs to be wired for USB interface and tC's are not.
This radio has HD Radio also which is a very cool add.

So, got my Rs7 last night and the only thing I don't like is the head unit. It is lame that there isn't any bluetooth. The plug in for the nav is too expensive. I like the pioneer in my rs6 much better. Anyways, does anyone know if there is a bluetooth adapter or something that we can install for this hu?

I have the same HU in my new xB and I love it!

The *only* thing that I wished for was more background options for the screen. You only get two in blue colors and two for the orange colors. Wish I could hack it and use my own backgrounds. HaHa

Oh well.... I'm still happy though.

Ditto this request - I can't find ANY pics of the new USB connector online. Can someone post a pic?

Yes, thanks!

It spurs another question - does it come with a USB cable at all, or do you simply use the ipod usb cable that comes with the ipod? Before I sold my 08 xB, the cable was starting to have connection problems with the port, and those cables were like $80 to replace (or <$20 on ebay). USB seems to be a much better, inexpensive, and more versatile option. Scion seems to be always be ahead of the game in standard features.

Nope, it doesn't come with a USB cable, but you DO get an AUX cable.

If you plug your iPod into the stereo with the AUX cable though, you can only control it through the iPod. If you use a USB cable, you can control everything through the stereo touchscreen & steering wheel control.

$80 for those cable?! Dang, you were ripped off! A USB cable bought at Apple is like $35 (or so) and an AUX cable is like $14.99 at Walmart.
