Trade it in for an AWD 2nd gen Matrix and save you a lot of time and money. Or better yet just buy an STi lol.

Two ways to go about it. Either import the whole drive train from an AWD Rumion from Japan and make custom adapter to get the 2AZ-FE engine to mate with it. Or get the drive train off an AWD Matrix, Vibe, or RAV4, which is already based on the 2AZ-FE engine, and make custom mounts for the rear suspension. Second one has been done in the Scion Tuner Challenge a few years back, Either set-up will cost lots of money or lots of time if you can fabricate.

Or the third option... Lexus NX 200t AWD drivetrain. You would have to contend with turbo lag though ;)
or go rear wheel drive with a Toyota 3.6 v6 (Lotus Evora back-half) less simple but way more smiles-per-gallon.

I guess I should quote you so you can get a flag

By the way the Evora rear engine cradle is bolt in along with suspension, so it's all parts that are available. Plus, if you have the money and time, you can use their Lotus/Cosworth GT4 crank kit (strokes to 4L) with the mating top end and supercharger then view the Subie getting very small in your mirrors.
