2012 Scion xB locks its own doors..

OK, I just joined this group because I have a Scion xB that I bought brand new in 2012, and it now has 110,000 miles on it. I call it the "Magic Bus" ever since I bought it, but now after owning it for 6 years, it seems like it has become magical.

I can leave my keys in my house with the car unlocked in the garage or driveway. If I walk outside and go near it (without my keys), it will often beep and lock it's doors. Do these have some sort of proximity sensors or perhaps on some sort of timer?
I don't even have to touch the car, it just locks its doors when it senses someone. It started doing it a few months ago. Should I change the name from the "Magic Bus" to "Christine" or is this some sort of Toyota sensing?

It's done other things too, but wont' get into details.

Any ideas as to why this happens?

Thanks,

Els

There are various settings relating to the door locks. If I recall, if you unlock the doors but do not open one, they will re lock after a period of time. Also there are settings as to whether you want the doors to lock when you start driving, when you remove the ignition key, etc. I don't remember the specifics, but it's in your owners manual. Some of the settings you can do yourself, some you have to have the dealer do it unless you have Techstream or Carista, etc.

There isn't a proximity sensor as far as I know, it is timer based.

2006 xB nearly the same except I don't have to be near it. Engine off, or engine on. Sometimes it locks when I hit the right kind of bump. 126000 miles, started this about 10000 ago.
Switch? or don't know if this would be handled by an ECU.
