Default 5 Spoke Alloy Wheels - questions

I'm thinking about getting the 5 spoke alloy wheels from the dealer and I have a couple of questions. I'm looking at the picture of the wheel and i can't see where the bolts are. Are they hidden behind that center cap or something ? My other question is, do you think it's a good idea or necessary to get the wheel locks ? When I called the dealer to inquire, the guy said that some people are annoyed by them and if you lose the key, you can't get the wheels off. Any opinions ? Thanks.

The lug nuts are behind the cap, its plastic. Do you live in a high crime area? Wheels locks are only for very expensive aftermarket wheels IMO.

Ok thanks. I'm seeing some you tube videos on how easy it is to circumvent the wheel locks, and you can even buy an emergency kit to do so at Pep Boys. That makes me think that a person who is in the business of stealing wheels would not have too much difficulty doing so.

Any set of aftermarket wheels can be a target for a drug addicted thief

Get a set of locks off Amazon / other & give yourself some piece of mind. Hint, dont loose the key

They have the same locks sold at the dealership (PT276-30986) on Amazon for 41.00, so i'll probably buy them and install myself after I get the wheels. The dealer charges 67.00

I highly doubt their is a high demand for 16" scion wheels lol. But hey, whatever makes you sleep better at night.

#1. Don't spend dealership prices on OEM rims, when you can get something cooler aftermarket, unless your budget only allows re-use of 16" OEM rubber.

#2. It not the odds, it's the stakes. Even if they're $100 for 4 locks, which they won't be unless you replace with a all new lug nuts + locks set, consider the opportunity cost in effort/frustration, time and cost if just one wheel + tire gets boosted...

Also, compare dealership prices with, say, TRDSparks because they OEM-discount and, even with shipping, you may beat +state-tax pricing...

This^^^

no thief is going to steal 16 inch stock alloy Scion wheels, so locks are not needed....I'd spend your money for nicer wheels if it were me....

I had a feeling the wheel locks question would be controversial. It's like asking if the end of the toilet paper should be above or below the roll. The answer is above - of course.

There's nothing wrong on buying wheel locks especially if you have the extra budget for it.

I had an acquaintance years ago that would "trade" his worn out tires with non-security conscious peoples wheels and tires, so lock it or he'll rock it.
