New to the forum here... I came seeking answers for a broken hood latch problem.
So far, it looks like the only solution is to take it to the dealership, or to cut the hood off... and I have a feeling it's going to be less expensive to just cut the hood. It wouldn't surprise me if the dealership wants $2000 for something like this.
The radiator blocks it from the bottom, and on this Gen2 xB, the grill is TINY, with only the horn and the crossbar directly behind it. I could try drilling through the crossbar and hope to dismantle the hook that way, but I'm thinking a well placed hole in the hood will provide better access.
I'll try to cut a small hole in the hood and maybe try and salvage the hood with some aftermarket hood scoop if it doesn't look awful, otherwise, it looks like you can get hoods online for $400-$500, and I'll just cut the whole dang thing off.
It's wild that this is the only way to resolve what appears to be a common issue with this car.
Maybe some guru on here knows a magic trick, figured I'd ask before I get to cutting.
Thanks y'all! Taken from Youtube, this is with the plastic cover on Taken from Youtube, this is with the crossbar exposed.
