Drivers seat has wires coming out of fabric on back?
#21
Futher info on the springs that break in the upright part of the drivers seat this is a common problem.
Toyota does not even make that seat and you can't buy replacement parts you have to buy the entire drivers seat with uphostery. Beyond expensive.
I have devised a way to fix just remove the bad springs , buy some round screen door springs and attach with wire to the sides make it tight enough to supoort your back , it works.

Ok I have figured out how to fix the drivers seat back springs.
BTW you have to buy the entire uphostered seat to get the Toyota fix.
Here is what I did
First remove seat very simple except be careful of the two wire sunder the seat.
Second cut the hog nail wire that hold the seat back together.
Unzip the zipper on the side of the seat( Not all the way)
pull the uphostery down so you can see whats broke.
It looks kinda like a basket of wire I cut all of the wires out except the top & bottom wires.
Then go the hardware store and buy eight springs like the use on screen doors
size 7/16th X 8 1/2 " x.041. cost me $7.29 per pkge of 2
And a peice of 1/8" 6"X6" square flat piece of rubber
Tape or glue the rubber against the foam to protect it against the springs.
The find the 4 white fittings inside the frame one one each side you can remove they would be the bottom ones they have a slot to hook the springs in stretch one across that pair.
The white one on top won't come out so you have to use wire to wire the springs to those two.
You now should have 2 springs running horizonal across the back.
Now get some heavy plastic zip tie's you want to wire these vertically 3 across from the top to the bottom original wires you will need to stretch them until they touch.
I put a wire thru the middle spring and wired it to the two outside wires so it doesn't move from side to side.
If you have any more questions or need more instructions just e-mail me at. quanah1000@yahoo.com
BTW I'm 285lbs and it works better than the original wires.
hope this helps and saves you some money.
